Ski Mounting Hardware Help Please

Pay2Play, what are you using for polish and for the plastic? Thats a beauty!

I just put pilot 6.9's on my XTX, i noticed when my skis were in the air there is a fair bit of moment where the ski bolt goes through the knuckle. My machine has a fair number of miles on it, just wondering if this play is normal or if I should be replacing something...

Thanks for the compliment. I use Mothers and elbow grease! It gets better the more I polish, of course. It's what I do when I'm bored. For plastic I use pledge furniture polish. There is way too much time between rides! For the 6.9s, are you using the Yamaha mounting hardware or Doo hardware?

I'm going away next week to ride and strapped for time. I have a 2013 nytro with SC kit on and going to need the extra gas. I have a few questions. Does the mounting holes line up from break light to reflector? Did u have to add wire? Drill holes? And how did u make/mount straps? Any help would b great

The minimal amount the mounting hardware is, it sure is worth it. The MTX ski's sure are a lot better than the Tuner ski's I had.

You can still use your XTX ski rubbers in the MTX ski. They are narrower, but will stay in place under the spindle no prob. I ran mine that way for 4 seasons without issues. ;)!
There use to be bolt/collar kit available from Yamaha to fit the mountain ski. It included all the parts required to do the swap (except rubbers), but I haven't been able to locate the part #. It's a kit that came out when they first started putting the MTX ski on mountain sleds somewhere around 2005 I believe. I remember that I bought the kit when I put MTX skis on my old SX Viper and that it was cheaper than buying the pieces seperately.

Also shimming the back of the ski rubber with a 1/4"-5/16" thick piece of stiff rubber helps reduce darting on the trails.

I did this. to put a storage bag there, I have no need for more gas as I have a trail tank. The holes line up, I never had to splice more wire. I just taped the harness down on top of the tunnel since it is covered with the bag anyway, cant really see it. I used small piece of aluminum floor edging to level the tailight.
