Just picked up my 2011 Yamaha Nytro XTX today and can't wait for the first snowfall. When I first saw the XTX I was surprised that Yamaha put such small skis on a crossover machine. So what does everyone recommend? I was thinking a pair of Slydog Powder hound 7's (White skis with red loops)

Any suggestions?

I think you'll find there a ton of threads on skis. But I am happy with my slydogs.

All skis have their pro's and cons, and excell in particular areas. I have Slydogs on my Mt Viper and love them. They float excellently btw off trail. They also have the coolest graphics. Simmons are also really good off trail.

What type of riding do you do and how do you ride? What are you expectations for your new skis? I recommend finding skis that will fit your individual riding style, and then fine tune with your carbide choice.

If part of your riding style entails railing corner to corner you may want to try C&A's.

I have the same color sled and put red, white and black camo slydog poweder hounds and love them. I am running the 6" shaper bars carbides.

I would say 60% of my riding is trail, while the other 40% is powder riding. Of course we don't get a lot of snow in MN, but there are always those weekends when we get a dumping of lake effect snow.

Pretty happy with my Pilots on the XTX. As stated above...very little darting and easy steering effort. The one downfall is the push in the corners in loose snow. When the trails are set-up/hardpack they rail but when its loose/fluffy/mushy...the tend to push. My pilots are worn out and I need a new pair of skis. I am down to 3 choices...6.9 Pilots, Curves or the new Yamaha Tuner ski that comes out soon. Quite possibly I think I am gonna give the new Tuner skis a shot.

I am running the C&A Trail X's and really like them..good bite in the corners, not hard on the arms, don't dart because of the small outer keels and they are cheap!

I have install a set of C&A XTX, they are great in the soft but hard to turn on slow hard pack trail.
