I am putting the 05 Mt ski on my 05 RS Venture and I was wondering what is better for floatation in powder.
Would it be better to make the stance as wide as possible or stay the same as stock or as close in as possible? Or won't it really make a difference as to where you put the collors.

The theory, at least as I understand it, is that the closer the skis are to the footprint of the track the better. Mainly sidehilling and deep powder handling are improved. Much easier carving a turn in the fluff. Obviously on trail handling in turns will decrease with skis set in. Really depends on your preference. The beauty of the 05 skis is that it's real easy to adjust. My 99 RMK was around 38" and I never had a problem on the trail.

HemiOrange,
I had the theory backwards, I figured the more spread out the skis are the better floatation you get. But now that I really think about it, what you said makes good sense.
thanks

Johnboy,
The ski stance will not effect floatation. All the adjustable stance does is; alow you to make the sled more stable on the trail (wider stance) or make it easier to pull over on one ski to sidehill/ carve hard turns (narrow stance). The wider mountain skis are what gives you better floatation due to the increase in area of the ski which contacts the snow.
