I have a wide front end kit on my RXM. I have a brand new stock narrow kit which I have never tried. I bought the sled slightly used as a demo from the dealer which had a ton on upgrades back in 05 (wide front end being one of them).
Anyway, my bushings are baffed in the front end and I was considering installing the narrow kit with the skis on the widest stance. I don't ride the sled much because I ride my Nytro MTX. My girlfriend is the primary rider. A narrower kit would make it easier for her to negotiate the "bus" (as my friends call it) through the bush. Her riding style is going to camp up the lake, and going ice-fishing with me which requires driving through narrow bush trails.
I am just wondering if the sled would be a little unstable for her on the lake. Is it worth a try or should I just replace the bushings and leave the wide kit on?
I know I would be able to handle a narrow ski stance without a problem, but just wondering how it would work out for a relatively inexperienced female.

I'm thinking the narrow kit would make it a little more unstable. I have the stock kit with newer apex mnt skis I have them on the widest setting and I still get a lot of ski lift in the corners. Straight away lake running sled feels stable but I bet she would feel the difference.

By the way, I am currently running the Yamaha mountain skis on the narrowest setting with the wide kit. I wonder how much difference in width that would be.

when I had the narrow a-arms on the sled it was extremely tippy on the trail however it was easier to throw around in the powder, I didn't really like that feeling and I don't think your g/f is going to like it either, I have the wider short track a-arms with a 13mm swaybar and love it for trail riding but I can't throw it around in the powder like I used too
if you want to try a set of narrow a-arms I think I still have a set in the garage but I the clutch side ones are a little bent from me hitting a telephone pole support cable
what are you's guys talking about the "wider" setting for the mountain skies, I have some aswell but I never seen how you can adjust them unless you're moving the spacers from the spindle all on one side

Exactly that....all the spacers are on the one side to bring the skis to the narrowest or widest setting. Kyle, thanks for the offer, but I have a brand new narrow kit (arms, shocks, sway bar still in the box) that was initially on my mountain sled.
I don't trail ride (groomed trails that is) so I am not too concerned about high speed cornering.
I wonder if the Nytro MTX ski stance would be the same as the RX1M stance.

I rode my stock 03 rx1m on the trail for a season.I thought it was way to tippy and unpredictable.I went to the wide kit and 12mm stabilizer and It's way better.Pushes in the corners but plenty stable at any speed. My girlfriend loves it.
