Took my skid apart this weekend and found the "relay rod assy"(that's what yamaha calls them) PT# 8gl-47490-00, to have both bushings totally gone and the holes on rods to be worn out of round.

my questions is....what do these rods even do? and do I even need them?

I have a 09 short track....I have already ordered new bushing but they don't even come close to fitting.....

I just replaced my track and while I had my skid out, I replaced my bushings. They had a little wear, we're probably ok, but figured while in there, just replace them.

I would imagine that the transfer bars strengthen the upper and lower portion of the rear shock to the skid. As the shocks travel, the transfer bars move up and down as well. Without them, the shock would take all of the movement and with the design of the shock, I would think it would fail. Replace if worn! That's my opinion...
