I asked this question in the Phazer Mountain area, but got no answer. Posting it here to see if someone knows.
Does anyone know the temper or alloy of the rear skid rails? I'm going to have my rails anodized black, and the company needs to know what temper they are. I did some research, and came up with 8740 ALLOY on another website. I wrecked a rail last year, and am getting a new on this year and want to change the look a bit of the Phazer. Some powder-coating and anodizing, shock upgrades, major cleaning, and a few other tweeks and the sled will be good to go.
Thanks.

Why would they want to know the temper of the aluminum? Anodizing involves submersing the part in a solution and running an electrical current through the part to impregnat a color onto the surface of the part. Powdercoating however, uses heat to bake the paint onto the part. Aluminum loses its temper if it is heated and not cooled properly, which weakens the aluminum. Of course it could have nothing to do with it, but since it will probably be hard to pin down the temper of your rails, you might try asking a rail maker like Ice Age. Good luck.

My guess would be 7075 T4 anything less would have good chance of bending.

7075 would have a better chance of breaking as it's a bit more brittle than 6061. I would think 6061 would be a little more durable than 7075.
You wouldn't be able to bend 6061 very easily without stress cracking it, especially in a T6 temper. 6063 would be more suitable to bending. But again, why does your annodizer need to know the temper of the alloy?

My mistake
,they need the alloy for sure. Temper is good to know, but mainly the alloy. They want to know so they can make sure the tank that they dip it in is set up to take it. I'm pretty sure it won't be an issue, they are just covering their bases.
