Put the skid on a table on its side with the wheels over the side. Then hit the end of the shaft like hell till it comes out.

Get yourself a sacrifical bolt of the same size as the one holding the wheel on which gives you something to tap on. Worked well for me. Also get yourself good bearings for the wheels original ones are scrap.
