I want to add some extro drivers to my shaft so i dont have to run the track so tight. I read a bunch of posts on here that skidoo extro drivers will work on nytro driveshafts. I bought a used set of 9 tooth doo extros off ebay the other night, tore my sled down to pull the shaft and come to find out the doo extro hex is .050" larger than the yamaha shaft. How are people making these doo extro's work on our shafts? I was thinking of grabbing some .025 shim stock and pressing it onto the shaft with the drivers to get me by but i am worried about it working its way out. If anyone has any experience with this please let me know. The drivers I bought were from a 2007 skidoo summit.

Hi!

I remember this incident when I was about to press on some doo extroverts on a friends Nytro, I always thoguht that the doo wheels were tighter on a Yamaha shaft, then but then this guy told me I was wrong, the doo wheels was actually "looser" on the shaft.

Anyways we pressed them on and it worked perfect.

Just wanted to tell you this.. I figure you have the same wheels but I might be wrong.. .

The FX Nytro drive shaft is 27 mm hex, the Ski-Doo drive shaft is 28 mm hex and a new set of Ski-Doo extrovert drivers are around 25 - 25.5 mm hex. This means the press fit on the FX Nytro drive shaft is not as tight as the press fit on the Ski-Doo drive shaft. However, this press fit is still as tight as the OEM Yamaha drivers and it takes a lot more force to move the Ski-Doo extrovert drivers than the OEM Yamaha drivers.

Forget about used drivers, no matter if they are coming from a Yamaha or a Ski-Doo shaft. Once they come off the shaft they are junk.

I found out the hard way that using used doo extros will not work. Once they are pressed on the shaft they expand to the point where they are too loose on the nytro shaft. The extros that I pressed off the doo shaft are about .040" larger across the flats than the nytro shaft. The nytro shaft measures 1.062 across the flats while the doo extros are 1.100" across the flats.

Look into getting a set of Avid drivers. They are the best quality, but also the most expensive, they'll end up costing you around $265 shipped

Or the less expensive Wahl brothers drivers. They are softer, and wear faster, especially if you run the track too loose.

I put the driver's in a pot of boiling water for about 45 min (wife was impressed:-). It allowed the center hex to soften and shrink down to there pre-installed size.
These were new driver's that came on the shaft. Used driver's may have already "taken a set" and may not shrink down eoungh.
