Skis/Carbides

Remember I am new at this.................need new carbides. I see in various search you all talk a lot about Woody's Dooleys and Snow Trackers. So, do these carbides install on stock skis ('06 Venture 2 up) or do you need to buy new skis to utilize them. I just took my original carbides off and the guy at the shop ordered me Woody's Executive Series 8 inch. Curious about others before I rip them open.

lots of threads on this for sure , i have snotrackers on my venture gt , no darting at all and they seem to make steering lighter, nice on a yammie

Thanks but do they go on stock skis? I could not find part number for them when I google searched

Yamaha sells those as an accessory for some of their sleds - not sure about yours. Or places like Royal Dist also carry them. Just make sure to get the right ones for your stock skis if that is the way you want to go.

Yes, if they were ordered correctly, they'll bolt right on your stock skis.

Timely question, as I'm thinking of a switch also. I swapped the stock skis for Simmons Gen 2 last season. I like the extra flotation, but the long twin keels make steering extremely difficult, so I'd like to try something else. Sorry I can't contribute to your thread, but at least you get a bump!

How deep are the keels on your Simmons? Is it possible to remove some mat'l from the keels to make them less aggressive? I thought about doing it with my 8" Slydogs because they are unpredictable in crusty conditions but they are easy to steer so I didn't want to mess with a pretty good set-up.

I don't have access to the sled right now to measure, but if I recall they're probably about 3/4" deep and maybe 16" long? And of course there are 2 keels on each ski spaced about 3 or 4 inches apart. The length of the keels is probably what makes it so difficult to steer, more so than the depth. I don't know if it's possible to remove any material or not - I hadn't thought about it before. I'd probably ruin the ski if I tried.
