I would go easy about the beatings, the Z still has 15-20hp on the Apex. You need to think and gather your facts before you start blurping out BS.DaveyBoy said:I was over there this morning and the guys over there are whining bad crying loud.Cant wait til we here real feed back on this sled and all th ebeatings the Mach`s will take
So 8 more horsepower for the GT, and the Mach Z gets another 5 or so, and you think the Apex will beat a Mach? Oh boy. Don't get your wallets out to bet against the Mach too fast.

Read the issue. Snowgoer emphatically denies that they "rotate" brands.

drifter, I have no doubt that the MZ is the faster top end lake racer. However the general feeling is that it would be pretty close up to tripple digits.
I looked over at dootalk yesterday and today, I dont post there. Basically it looks like our guys posts are fairly tame, more or less saying they should take a test ride. Rotax I see what you are doing and that is basically to settle down both forums. That's good. We wont be able to convince them that 4 strokes are better and we shouldn't try. And vice versa is true for their guys coming over here. I think if we dont follow this we will just get alot of e thuggery going back and forth.
Now going back to topic (not that you guys have to), Yamaha has done a brilliant job of refining the 4 strokes to be contenders in 3 short years. Seemingly pulling out all the stops including using titanium and magnesium to get the weight down.
In the car world you have to get up around the Ferrari or Lanborghini level to see things like that.
Yamaha nice job!!
Guys rest assured that Mighty Yamaha could have the highest HP motor if they wanted 2 ways. 100-200 more cc's would do it but that would require breaking the 1000 cc barrier where insurance rates skyrocket and they could also do it by bringing the RPM's up more to the motorcycle level which would require throwing more $$ at the motor and a bigger gear reduction unit.

Doo-Talk is on the verge of getting like HC. Half of the people over there have no more than a couple of years of riding experience and some have only ridden a REV. So, there opionions are meaningless as far as I'm concerned. Also, I'm just sick of people making abnormal comments and exploding the truth to satisfy themselves and justify why they are on their current brand. The REV is great sled, but Doo's reliability is shot to hell. I'm not sure if a 2 stroke can ever have the reliability of a 4 stroke, and until then I don't believe I will ever look back. If Yamaha can get the weight down, the other 3 will be left in the dust. I am open minded to every brand, but I am getting sick of the brand bashing, it's getting old and I'm sick of these people who offer their rediculas opinions, when they truly do not know anything about snowmobiling and have only been riding for a season or less.

Yeah Rotax, I see why you say that.
We can all do out part in keeping this board civil and intelligent though. And to correct any misinformation.
Have you guys seen the posts where dealers have hinted to some of our members that 07 is going to be another very exciting year for Yamaha.
Sure would like to know more about that before February 06. Yamaha is on a definite upswing. When they saw the new emission regs on the horizon they saw that they were holding Aces having all that 4 stroke motorcycle technology. So based on these little hints 07 sled of the year looks possible too.

The biggest news for 07 will be the unvailing of a true Ditchbanger to go head to head with the firecat and REV. You will also see an Attak GT.
IMHO if you like the current Apex's and Attak get one now so you can use it now. They will remain basically the same in 07.

My dealer rep told me the same about the 07's back in March, the true ditch banger will go head to head with the REV's. I have heard about a 480lb machine. I would not be surpised to see it being unveiled at a sno-x event this year. Duluth would be good, but that's in Dec, so probably not that early. late Jan is my bets, I hope they will have them at the SOO I-500, like they did last year, which is Feb 2-6th, 2007, somewhere in that date range. If I would of went I could of demo rode the 06's there, but I opted to go riding and missed them, because I just got my piece of #*$&@ REV back to-gether for the second time it blew up last year. I will be there this year. Yamaha is pretty heavy at that event and they want to win it bad.

I have to agree with Rotax & Mighty, this is what i figure Yammie will do. Not sure about the weight, but i think you will see something in the ditchbanger class that will go head to head which should be a great match. I would be suprised if they didn't put EFI on the 120's aswell. I think that would really wake them up, not that they are bad but look at the RX-1 compared to the Apex's and the difference is very noticeable. Just my .02 cents.

Frankly, I see them using an even smaller powerplant with the aid of a turbo or S/C.

Mighty nailed it..... Just speculating of course. 4 stroke twin with a super charger or turbo, and would be light enough to destroy the competetion. I would love to see Yamaha come on top, because no one thinks they can build a sno-x sled.
