Hi guys,
I have an 06 Apex RTX w/7500 miles on it. I'm on my second go-round with replacing my donuts (going w/copper this time!) and I have the sled pretty well torn apart (i did not drop the suspension/track).
Would you recommend any other maintenance/small upgrade items as long as I have it torn apart? I'm planning to do the following:
- oil / filter change
- spark plugs (cr10's worth it??)
- headlight bulbs (silverstar 9003 ultras - i am only keeping the sled another 1-2yrs, so i don't want to invest in HID's on this sled)
Any other thoughts? If there is anything complex, I'd appreciate a link to a "how-to" if possible!
Thanks guys! Keep praying for snow!
Andy

Check all your wheels, the 06 had the non bearing replaceable solid wheels. The front suspension and sway bar bushings most likely need attention at your mileage. You don't want to oblong the mounting holes! Real problems and $ then.

check your jackshaft bearing spanner nut for tightness, mine come loose and its alot easier to tighten up with fuel tank out!

Thanks guys! I had the wheels replaced, and front suspension bushings repacked last year - you are spot on with the mileage where they become an issue.
I am mechanically "dangerous" - as in, I know basic stuff, but nothing about "non-standard" items... Could you post any helpful "how-to", "issue explanations" links or pics/diagrams to:

- Drive shaft bearing (what's the issue here? Where is it / how do you check? How can you tell if it's bad? Why speedo side only??)
- Chain case service (same as in parenthesis above)
- Jackshaft bearing spanner (same as in parenthesis above

Pretty much all of the information you are looking for as far as how-to can be found in the thread "Apex/Attak Frequently Asked questions" at the top of the "Apex General Talk" section. A plethora of insight, tips etc, which is what makes this site rock!

Because bearings on chaincase side run in oil from chain case all the time. Thanks guys! I had the wheels replaced, and front suspension bushings repacked last year - you are spot on with the mileage where they become an issue.

I have 07 RTX.
I suggest Excell Wheels from Barn of Parts. (stock wheels are too small causing premature slider wear)
I suggest replace fuel pump relay with newer solid state one (07 older relay would condensate and freeze up causing no fuel pump click on )
I suggest clean or solder grounding blocks per stickies
I would suggest woodies duallies carbides as a minimum (stock skis with single carbides are a darting nightmare).

All of the above plus check the entire chassis for loose/broken rivets. The ones attaching the tunnel to the front structure(under gas tank) fail and allows the tunnel to move too much leading to exhaust system cracks.
