After reading how others handled their loose slide rail end caps on this forum, and buying my Attack with loose caps even though they had been siliconed and bolted on, I decided to try and make some stainless retainers to hold my rail end caps on.

Originally I made these by hand out of stainless. Just recently I took one cap of to make sure everything looked ok and misplaced one of the retainers. I decided I didnt want to make another by hand as its tedious, so I went down to the local Laser cutter and asked them to make me some. Well to setup and make a couple wasnt viable so I made a small batch instead.

The retainers are made from 1/8 stainless. The cap screw and the nut with the nylon insert are stainless as well. I had these on my sleds for over 3000 miles and they were as tight as the day I fitted them. I dont remember having to drill the hole out on the rail as I kept the cap screw at 3/16" in diameter, which from memory is the same size a the factory rivet. It was a long time go that I fitted these, so I cant be 100% certain. Shouldnt be an issue either way as Ive noticed some people drill them out to 1/4"

As best as I can tell, these will suit everything from a 2003 RX1 to a 2009 Apex or any sled that takes and end cap with the part # 8ED-47422-00-00

I have a small amount to sell if anyone is interested. The retainers with cap screws and nuts are $17.50 and freight will be extra.

Postage and packaging for these will be $6.50 with tracking and or $3.00 without tracking. I dont think tacking the no tracking option is a good idea.

If anyone is interested feel free to send me a PM.

Thanks Darv
That would make sense. 3/16 is 4.76 odd MM. So there shouldnt be any need to drill them, but like I said even if you had to, it shouldnt be an issue.
There's no need for silicone with these. They stay tight and they also locate the cap properly on the ridge that the rail has above the bolt hole.
I couldnt move the caps by hand after 3000 miles on either my Apex or Attack so Im pretty confident they will remain tight.

Firstly thanks for the compliment on the idea

I dont know what you have access to in the way of machinery but by the time you make these by hand $17.50 + freight will seem cheap. I know only too well.
