I will try to get more pics soon......hopeing for bar risers before weekend so i can finish her up...

I just got the 07 seat cover onto the rtx now too....the seat is all black and for 07 they changed a few things to help keep the seat from stretching and getting wrinkled up...so i had them retrofit the 07 cover to 06 foam, looks exact like 07 now...shouldnt have any more probs with wrinkling anymore either.

What kind of wheels are you running on your skid? They do not look like yamaha replacements. I am looking to replace the wheels on my RTX this is why I am asking.

cool

Machz is doing it right. my cousin years ago had a 855 machz triple piped and lots of mods and heavy. he used to drill his slides out to, or groove them to last. Thanks for the pic's Mach, thats great stuff. I like your rear wheels too!!

I too used to drill the slides.....

I found seasoning them right made them last longer

I changed my Hyfax at 5600 miles and they could have gone longer on my 04 Warrior, this is with the SLP anti- wear pads. ;)!

On the rear heat exchanger install, did you have to cut both sides, or just the one? Do you need any special tools to do it...what would you recommend?....Trying to figure out just how much cutting is required...I'm going to be installing on an Apex and a Vector...and how long does it take to do?
Thanks...

I did this on my Vector and I only had to grind out one side. The cast aluminum piece serves as a perfect template, so just remove the aluminum sheet metal outlined by the aluminum casting, and you'll be perfect. I drilled a series of small holes around the perimeter and then used a dremel with a sanding drum to smooth it all out.

Also, on the 07 snowflap, the 07 beacket is 25% the price of the 05-06 bracket. My 05 bracket bent up in the first season, but I couldn't justify the $85 price tag to replace it. However, this year I bought the 07 part with the 07 flap and together the price came in at around $50. So, if your 05-06 flap bracket is bent, just upgrade to the 07 setup for 1/2 the price! Finally Yamaha got the message on this situation...

Dan, what did you have to do to re-tro fit the cover?

those wheels are from the 06 AND 07 accessory book....genuine yammie parts...they are VERY THIN and much LIGHTER then stockers....seem to hold up fine so far.

If you look at the pics closely, you will see i simply ground out ONE SIDE of tunnel, using a dremel with cutting blade....you can also see i cut the top and bottom tracing the aluminum, but didnt cut it all the way out....I simply bent it inward with pliers, then slid the crossover tube OUT the other side of tunnel,...then after installing new exchanger just BEND BACK that peice...

I spose you could remove that peice altogether if you wanted....dremel was easy,i use a dremel all the time on sled projects, for the price of one id recommend buying one rather then trying to do it with hacksaw blade.

Be sure to bleed system once done..this is important!

I agree....many people on this site claimed the 07 and 06 bracket were the same...I was rather sure they were NOT and now know they are different for fact....this pertains to the APEX models only,as the ATTACK does not have this bracket at all...So guys with attacks didnt run into this issue when changing to 07 flaps.

I think the bracket underneath is about 18 bucks,Bending it down is really simple, and I did it mostly to save the time removeing old and re riveting all the rivets back on...not a big deal but it was easy to bend down...and looks perfect.

IF yours is all bent up sure it could be replaced...I work with metal all the time in my BIZ so straightening it with hand tools is rather easy,as its very easily bent.
