My stock hyfax lasted 5000 miles that was all last season. This year I put duponts on hopefully they will last three times longer or there not worth the money on this sled. Time will tell

On this chassis I really don't think they are needed unless your running a long lug track such as a 1.75 and riding in marginal at best conditions. If your running a 1.5 or shorter lug I don't think they are needed unless of course you wanna replace them just once and forget about them for say 10k miles. Now I might be stretching that a little but like others have said the Sidewinder doesn't need 200 dollar slides. I have them on my Apex with Excell wheels and have 2 seasons probably 3k miles and they still look great.

- 2020 Winder LTX SE 16600 km and counting
2016 Viper LTX LE 23986 km sold
2015 Viper LTX DX Wife's 22500 km
2010 Vector LTX GT 25000 km sold
2024 SRX Leftover 0 km
I got 11500km on the originals off of my 2016 Viper. I do almost 100% trails with lake running basically just to get to the trail system, Found a great deal on some 3 year old DuPont's for 83$ each out the door. Not sure why I needed them but a couple more mph makes me happy. 1.375 pics down the middle and no scratchers.

Has anyone really seen a top speed difference with a set of DuPont? I would think it'd be really hard to prove that. Except maybe taking off a well broken in set of slides then switching to DuPonts?

I had Duponts on my Nytro XTX. They roll easier gave me better mileage and top speed and were still on the sled when I sold it. 1500 plus miles and they still looked great. Not sure they would benefit the Sidewinder as much since they seem to be easy on the sliders unlike my Nytro.

Duponts last year. 1 less thing to worry about for awhile, hopefully!
$60 something each, yes expensive, but coming off of a Yamaha( slide eating sled) before this Yamacat, it just felt like the right thing to do. I use to run the more expensive slippery slides, you know the ones that use to have the Teflon inserted in a pair of regular slides. Those did not work that well, Duponts do.

I switched to them on my last 1200 Doo hoping to pick up some speed and was disappointed. No speed increase on the Doo.

My hyfax show zero wear and no signs of sticking or anything else. That tells me there is no resistance in my hyfax so how am I going to gain mph and get better gas mileage? Are these Duponts some kind of miracle hyfax? Do they have rockets on them that will propel your sled? Do they defy gravity or something? Many have reported that the hyfax on these Winders don't wear so why spend all that cash for something not needed? I swear we just look for more stuff to spend our money on when it comes to these sleds. Maybe if you ride in no snow there may be benefits but I think for thosw who ride in normal conditions they will be a big waste of money.

Buy the low cost slider + ice scratchers, get the cooling just in case, as a logging operation or plow can ruin miles of road trail without warning, and in these conditions need to pickup all the snow you can get.

interesting that sn and shag have the scratchers mounted to the mid skid and ran you have them on the skis???

Nothing wrong with Duponts, they are incredible Vespel material which comes from space shuttle engineering.
But are they needed on this chassie? Not really...but sure wont hurt.
Will they make your sled faster? NO!
Will they make your sled RADAR faster on GLARE ICE if the run is over 2500 ft? YES They will not heat up when running longer runs on glare ice, and will keep speeds up. This is something I did like about mine on the several sleds I ran them on.
MPG, NO CHANGE...Now if you ride a lake that is 30 miles long on glare ice, sure your MPG will be better...but in snow normal riding, NO MPG change.
If your ride on a day where there is no lube, and everyone is overheating ect...that type of day YES your MPG will be better.
So they are great, and can help in many situations...But for the most part, this skid does so well on slider wear, its the LEAST needed item. lol

Dan did you notice any increased wear on your track clips with these sliders? I remember years ago some guy posted that he wore his track clips because the duponts were so hard. I thought it sounded weird to be honest.

Well you gotta remember I never had huge miles on any of these sleds, maybe 6k was most. I never noticed any wear on clips. I suppose anything is possible but I would think metal would not wear against any plastic no matter how hard or long lasting.Dan did you notice any increased wear on your track clips with these sliders? There is a ton of info on "vespel" online, I read alot about it and it blew me away....so probably info is out there if it would wear into metals.

I bought a set of Duponts right away when I got my Viper. Figured I’d wear out the stock slides before I swapped them. That never happened before I traded for the Winder so still have them in the garage. Maybe I’ll keep the Winder long enough to use them. These sleds definitely go a lot longer on slides than the full bred Yamahas
