Well I put about 300 miles on my new XTX with powderhounds (7.5 shapers) based somewhat on the info I found on TY. The ski are very good and float great, but...... the heavy steering was getting unbearable. I tried all sorts of different suspension settings with no results. Don't get me wrong they really perfrom well, but I was just wore out after 100 miles.

I had always used SLP powder pros on my REV so I tried them on the Yammy and what a difference. They have the same perfromance as the Powderhounds only the steering effort is cut in half. It is harder to steer over stock but the effort is a 5 instead of 10. \

I think it is the curve bottom of the SLP over the long flat bottom of the slydogs that has made the difference.

This is only my opinion, and I just thought I would share my testing.

There has been a few tests with SLP PP and all have been in favor of the PP as i understand. Alatalo tested them and compared them to CA ADX and Outlaws i belive. They turn like an ADX vith the steeringeffort app as stock ski but not as good as the outlaw (the outlaw I belive is HEAVY in steering and almost dangerous on hardpack on a Nytro) atleast a -08 Nytro. I will be testing a set of PP and compare to my Razors soon. Ill let you know what i find!

I have had a set of powder pros for years and can say that they are the best all around ski I have tried by far!!! I have tried them on a 01 SXR 700, Fx nytro, a extended (136) pro-action, and an apex. Other skiis on the market do some things well but fall short in other areas. Nothing holds a line in loose corners like the slp pp. The stepped up design acts like another keel in loose/ deep snow conditions. I have tried c@a, curve, simmons, pilots, and kimpex arrows. Nothing comes close!!!

Where can I buy a set of powder pro's? And what about mounts??

Thanks. ;)!

I got mine off of Ebay. Or check out these links

Thanks for the links....but there isn't a mount listed for an XTX...or any current Nytro. So what's everyone using???

I have also wanted the SLP's but last year they did not have a mount for the Nytro or Phazer. I checked with SLP this fall and they still did not have a mount ready.

They must, I have them on my 09 XTX right now. I will go out to the shop later and see if I can find the package they came in and post the part number.

I did a impromptu build on the SLP website for my sled and it came out to $435.00........is there anywhere else that sells them for a better price?

I have compared CA ADX, CA XT and SLP PP (I have never tried Outlaws or Razors).
CA XT is for sure the best ski if you are looking for deep snow flotation. It also offers the best steering response and steering grip, but the steering effort is high and they are very nervous on hardpack (if you can not live with the front end stability of the -08, do not even think about this ski on hardpack...).
CA ADX does not offer any advantages compared to CA XT. Not as good flotation, not as good steering response and not as good steering grip. Possibly a little bit less steering effort, but not much.
SLP PP offers flotation, steering response and steering grip somewhere in between CA XT and CA ADX. Though, the steering effort is clearly lower than both pairs of CA, in my opinion comparable to the stock ski.

If you are running only soft surfaces or off-trail I would recommend CA XT. If you are running a mixture of surfaces I would say that SLP PP is a better compromise.

Isn't the powder pro pretty much identical to the yamaha mountain ski?? I have never had them to compare but I thought I read that on this forum some where.

Here is the part number from the bag my powder pro mounts came in. Hope it helps.

I bought my setup off of ebay from Western Power Sports located in Minnesota. Paid $380 for skis, saddles, loops, and 6" carbides.

Here is the link of what I purchased

Similar yes, but not the same. Slp has a parabolic keel (wider in front then tapers and widens slightly at rear), yamaha does not. I believe there is more rocker to the slp also. The bottom of the ski on the yammi is flat except for the keel, slp has two mini keels to the outside of the ski bottom on the edge before the step up that helps along with the keel design to reduce darting. I cant imagine anyone not being happy with these skiis.
On a stock sled, imo there are 2 areas where you get the most bang for your buck when changing from stock, no matter what make or model you own. One is clutching, the other is skis. I can honestly say the best thing for any sled I've owned is the slp pp. Zero complaints....Zero. Money well spent.

skis

a buddy of mine sells the SLP skis. He can get PP's and SLT's. He recommends the SLT's over the PP's for trail riding. Anyone have any experiece with the SLT's?
