I have read on here and looked up in recent posts where people said they fit on with no machining required. I called to make an order today and talked to Brandon, and he said he thought I would still have to machine the inner mounts because the wheel is wider. I have machined the mounts on my RTX SE and have six Polaris wheels on it. I pulled them all off and put them on the MTX thinking I could just buy these for my RTX SE and bolt on and go. Anyone had any experience with these? Do the inner mounts have to be machined or do they fit in without any problems?

I thought they would fit right in, bought six of them and they do not fit cause they do in fact have the 6205 bearings. Had to machine them down a little. I was a little upset, I called slydog before I ordered and talked to a nice lady who said they just bolt right in. Oh well, it was easy at least. You probably read my post saying that they fit right in...my apologies.
 
If you are going to run them in between the rails, then yes you will have to machine 1.5mm off the mount to compensate for the 15mm bearing.

If you are going to install them on the outside of the rails you do not need to machine anything.
 
The RTX SE has gas filled shocks attached to the mounts as well... so shaving those mounts would also be necessary. That why I was hoping the sly dogs would bolt on.
 
I just put slydog wheels on my 09 rtx se. It will work... I made them work for every wheel except the top wheels (because I didn't buy those wheels). And for the outside wheels I only used a bench grinder to grind on the mounts a little.
 
You mean the inside wheel mounts you used a bench grinder on? How did that work out?
 
Well I actually used a mill on the inside wheels, and milled down the side of the mount that sits up against the rail. It was plenty thick, and had to take about half of it off...I still think it will be strong enough. I don't think this is probably the correct way to do it, since probably just over half of the wheel bearing is going to be on the mount, while the other half will just over hang, but it will be held on with the bolt, so owe well. Maybe a little extra stress on the bearing? As long as it lasts a whole year.

For the outside two wheels I used a bench grinder and ground down the mount so the wheel would slide on to the mount further. But you can only go so far because the torsion springs slide through their plastic things and share the mount with the wheel. But the only reason I did this is because my hardware store didn't have longer metric bolts in that specific size (you have to have a metric bolt there because it screws into a nut welded onto the suspension). So if you can find a longer bolt I don't think you'd need to grind on those wheel mounts at all.

Another thing I noticed is the slydog wheels appear to be designed to run with the snap ring facing out. If you face the snap rings in the snap ring rubs on the mount. The way the "fan blades" on the wheel also look like the snap ring should be out...either way they kinda look different so I dunno.

I don't know if any of that is gonna make sense... when I did it i just kinda winged it. I think you'll see what I mean once you start taking it apart and putting the other wheels on. I dont know why yamaha can't just put normal wheels on.
