I just got back from a ride, put my sled on the stand, started spinning my track, head this clunkin noise, looked down and theres my transfer rod snapped in half, with a big piece of it rubbing against my track, which wore down to the steel track crossthreads every 2 inches all the way down the track. So i'm not happy. I had it set to max, so now i'd say you shouldn't do it. So does anyone run without the transfer rod? I know there is a few guys out there that broke them, and i'm not spending 500 bucks on a new one. I know your skiis will be up alot, but it probably wont be much different then when the rod was set to Max. Can you do any damage with not having it in there?...like is there anyway to over extended your suspension or something? Thanks everyone. I'll take a picture of the damage tomorrow when its not dark out.

It won't hurt a thing to run without it. Got a friend with over 2000 miles without it. Nice soft ride if you like the skis up on acceleration.

transfer rod
Yes you can run without the rod I have for over 2000mi, but the rear of the suspension can reverse and get stuck you then have to pry it lose. So I put a set of old polairs blocks in that stop it from getting stuck.

not only reversing...you will put more stress on the already prone to cracking front arm....and I know someone who did this and stabbed a track window..

I looked at Port Yammi and the rod is $52.50 or Extreme Powersports is 48.50 US, So if that is all that is broken. Canadian price would probably be 50% more. Do u have a dealer in Atikokan?

Well i took off the transfer rod today, there is not a single part on there that i can salvage. The rodes bent, and all the other pieces are either missing or scrapped to much to reuse probably from running on the track for 60 miles. What a pain in the butt, i dont have warrenty either. You guys think yamaha would cover a part like this even though i'm off warrenty? Because this should never happen.

Its 1 thing I check regulary to see if its loose and make sure the the counter nut is tight and snug...LOCKED so it doesn't become undone.

No warrenty, looks like i will have to order a complete new transfer rod. So you guys think i can run without it for the meantime?

in a very calm firm manner...I have gotten an entire crankshaft assembly covered out of warranty calling yamaha customer relations and complaining....it took a few weeks and some persistance...but they covered it...
I bet they would goodwill at least some of it..
