Just picked up a 1990 Yamaha sno sport. It runs and is in good shape. It is a 120cc with electric or kick start. Just need to get seat revived. What are these things worth and what age kid are they good for. What can I expect for a top speed?

They are not real fast but kind of quick! Great for ripping around a field of fresh snow. On a trail they are tippy at speed and push like a dump truck.
Not sure of the speed maybe 25 -35. My kids were 8 and 10, They are holding there value and worth what ever anyone is willing to pay. On u-tube guys have them working pretty well.
...Get that next generation started , we need all the riders we can get!

I have two sports. Prices range from $800 - $2000 or more depending on condition. In good working order, the Sport will run a 150 lbs. rider up to 30 mph in about 2 inches of fresh on top of a decent base. They are a more capable sled than the current model 120 machines for sure, but parts are hard to find ... tracks for the sport are practically non-existent. With a little ingenuity, the sport can be modded to be a great trail sled for a pre-teen rider. And they are a lot fun for us adults too.

I have two sports long tracked - one with a 108" x 11.5" x 1.25" track and the other with a 121" x 12.5" x 1.33". Both run between 50 and 55 km/h on trail. Plastic skis are a must and a better track if possible .... lots of mod build ideas & pics on snowest. Some parts are still available and they seem to run forever in spite of the beatings many of them have taken.

Just sold a sport in OK shape for $1200 - was a "parts" sled that I fixed up a bit. In good shape Sports in original form go from $1800 to $2400
Yamaha had the rider forward design almost nailed down with these sleds ... beats me as to why they went backwards / dropped the design rather than build on it. A revamped version would make a great intro sled - take 1/2 a phazer motor, better track, plastic skis and upgraded shocks and it would be a winner!

What's the difference between a scoot and a sport?
The scoot is slightly smaller, has an 80cc motor, shorter track (only 4 inches), and different front suspension (a leaf-spring turned side-ways running from one ski to the other). The sport is a littler bigger, has a 125cc motor, a longer track (12"x90"x.25") and independent coil-over shocks. Both motors are 2-stroke, air-cooled scooter engines, with an enclosed CVT.

Sweet! I didn't even know those existed until now. And I thought the scoot was great. Yami should still make something like this
