Snow trackers on Tuners

For those with the trackers and tuners : I just bought them for my 16 viper 129 RTX with qs3 shocks . Did you crank up the center spring to 75% like snow tracker says ??? Seems like a lot. Currently I’m running that spring almost full loose with the single keel Kimpex skis and snow trackers on those, and a fair bit of ski pressure I’m going back to the Tuners as they worked better than the Kimpex. FYI don’t buy the Kimpex highly disappointing Kimpex arrows. saw good reviews about the trackers on tuners for the hard pack trails I typically ride so figured I’d try it and got some from Travis at BOP.
Didn’t realize they where a dual carbide set up until they showed up . Lots of sharp runner under there so maybe 75% up on the center is legit ?
 
Follow the directions and start from there, you can then adjust to your liking. Make sure you check your toe in and out that will probably need to be re adjusted also. You will be able to get buy with a lot less ski pressure and when set up right they will rail in the corners with zero darting. It takes a little work but it is well worth it when your done.

Yamaha says 1/8-1/4 pre load for stock and I was full loose. Snotracker says “ 75% stiff “up so I guess I’ll start at 7/16-1/2 preload and go from there. It’s tough to test cause it’s a 5 hr ride for generally to get to snow and then group wants to get miles on not wait for me to fiddle around.
 
My Snow Trackers were put on the Tuners by my dealer, so I have no idea whether he made any adjustments, but they work great. I have been a fan of the Trackers for many years now, and installed a few pair myself on the Arctic Cat skis on three Vipers and a Sidewinder. I made absolutely no adjustments to any of those sleds, and they were all "perfect" in my estimation. Maybe they could have been better with adjustment, but I felt no need to explore any changes.
 
Like TPAY said, adjust your toe to “0”..

I would leave your centre spring at 1/8 or so preload and leave the adjuster nut hand tight, it only takes a few seconds to adjust on the trail till you find the perfect spot for you.
 
I put semi aggressive Trackers on my 2016 LTX DX. Turns like a race car on the trails......they hate reverse coming out of my shed! I only run them after we have a good base of snow. I run Doolys 6" until then, they do not turn near as well. Trackers for sure!
 
Have always had great handling on the single keel skis with the Trackers so put some on the Tuner 2's for the 15 Viper. Trickier to mount as you have to drill two holes at the front of ski instead of one in the center. Careful to drill precisely or they will reduce gas mileage due to resistance from your misalignment mistake.

Always know how to adjust the suspension to enjoy the ride more, especially in hard pack frozen snow conditions. Front shock preload to 0, center shock preload above half so rear end will pivot better. Easy to adjust trail side if lock ring is only hand tight. Limiter strap shortened one or two holes if on trail only. Rear spring setting depends on rider weight and saddle bag load. You want sag but no bottoming out.

I find Trackers are the best carbide option for on trail when set up properly. Enjoy!
 
Toyman snowtrackers recommend to lengthen the limiter straps as long as possible to take the weight off the front end.

With shortening your limiter straps how do you find the steering effort ?
 
I do not find any increase in steering effort at all, but have less ski lift on acceleration out of corners which keeps front ent planted. The only benefit to having the strap at full length is in deep snow off trail to grab more snow.
Increasing the center shock preload lightens the steering effort and and if the snow is soft and you're pushing in the corners you can temporarily add some front shock preload. Remove when it firms back up.

Get out and experiment. I just had my second day out on the trails today and put on 350kms. A great 9 hr day out in the fresh air!
 
I left the factory setup on my 2020 viper and they work awesome. No need to adjust anything here.
