Actually my mom is retiring and they gave this to her which she was looking forward to using on thier travels around the US. Turns out after much frustration you cant use it for on road navigation!! :o| WTF that seems so lame.

So she said I could have it or throw it so I played around searching these forums and somehow loaded the MI state snowmobile trail maps on it. Wow this is cool! I never played with GPS and always like a hard map with me since I am not familiar with anyone place yet, but this looks sweet!

I already got the top speed thing figured out so I can see how fast my SC sled will do across a big lake and I love the tracking feature, when we go to St. Germain there is one spot that is like a big circle with all these off shoots we always get lost on and I cant wait to track it LOL

Anybody got any tips for using this or what you like about it best? How do you use on a normal 4 day trip? I dont have it wired to the sled yet just thinking of leaving it in my pocket, is there a way to lock out the keys so nothing gets pressed while its on and tracking?

Thanks everyone! :rocks:

I have my 60CS with me everytime i ride. Usually i leave it in the backpack, since i have all my riding areas logged on it already. Then I'll take it out if I get surprised by bad weather. The reason i don't have it on the handlebars all the time is because i often force-face my helmet and crush the handlebar mount, and I do not want to destroy the GPS all the time.

I got a handlebar mount and a charger wired up so i can have it there when traveling in unknown areas. Remember that the AA batteries don't last long in cold weather.

Its a great tool and it have helped me out several times in the mountains.

I have the 60CSX wired to my Apex. great tool for keeping track of where you have been and also a life saver if you get caught in bad weather. If you don't plan to hard wire it make sure you have extra batteries with you at all times. When I get in a weird spot in the woods its always nice to just zoom out on the map and get a reference to where you are in the world. Great for finding those nice little spots you find a second time once you have it marked in the GPS. Not sure if yours has the SD card but if it does get the largest one you can buy for it. Great to use the card to save your tracks on those long trips. Lots of guys here have that same unit so I'm sure lots will chime in with ideas.

I have the 60csx mounted on my 09 Apex ltxgt.took a handle bar mount and opened it up,screwed to dash on left side of tack.had done same on doo 02 renegade.use my cig.adapter and tape in to hold secure.never comes lose.ran a vista csx for years on old Doo,same mount.first year w/ 60csx do like larger screen and better reception, will know better after more time.don't waste money onfancy mounts because this keeps gps protected behind windshield great

NiCad or NiMH rechargeable batteries are a must have for these units, especially if your not wired to the sled. NiMHs have no memory effect. Two sets give me 14 hours+ regardless of temp. Small pocket-sized chargers are also common place these days.
