So I'm riding along the ditch when this happens

Don't know how the bolt broke. Ordered 2 new sets from the dealer. May as well do the left side too!

No damage to the sled. Luckily was near a road and had the neighbour pick me up as my trailer was being used by my other neightbour.

Thank God for the tether switch I installed last year.

Luckily I was only doing 60 kms. I thought for sure it was going to bite and roll over. I don't jump the sled or ride aggressively. Hell I'm 45! But with 4500 kms on the odometer the dealer said that can happen.

i dont think that shouldnt happen with 20,000 kms

isnt that like a car dealer saying at 100,000 the front tires can fall off?

I walked the trail but could not find it. I assume it was a grade 8 bolt. The front end is not tweaked - everything is straight and tight. Have no idea why or how it sheared but it does trouble me. Makes me think twice about opening it up on a lake!

Aaaaah know the feeling cuz i just broke my A-arm while(stupid as i am) was driving on a railroad(closed)

You may want to check your steering tie rods as well. There would have been a lot of force on them to spin the spindle around like that.

What makes you positive that it sheared and the nut was not loose and fell off? Is there a cotter pin at the end of the bolt where the nut is on your skis? My '12 Apex does. Just a thought, as when I bought my "12 Apex, and while I was installing my PCV and HID's, I noticed that my upper shock bolt was not tightened, and the nut was JUST started onto the threads, and there was a 1/2" of distance from snugging it up. Just a thought. Glad you made it through it OK though. & Yeah, something to think about when you are screaming across a lake in triple digits.

Hey cubby had the same thing happen to my venture not s lite....was only doin about 15mph and the whole right end dipped. The damn bolt sheared off everything else around it is a grade 8 bolt but the ones holding the a-arms have a goofy looking p or small b on them. Had the pleasure of replacing the lower a arm. of course u cant find anything other thann a yamaha bolt 2 replace it-them glad your ok my wife work at a place that tests bolts etc. wen she tells me what the grade if any are ill let u guys all know. ware the heck was winter ya'll its sucked here in chicago. :o|

Glad you're OK Cubby.

I watched a friend get launched from his Phazer thanks to a sheared off A-arm bolt. Bruised a lung, broke a couple ribs and broke his collarbone among other things... He's an older guy, too, so it really beat the hell out of him.

Scary to see this kind of thing happening (seemingly) more often- we thought it was just a one-off / bad luck. The A-arm hadn't been damaged prior to the bolt breaking off (but it sure was after).

Update - I walked the trail where it happened twice this weekend. I found the 2 washers but never found the bolt or nut. I was hoping to find it so I can figure out what happened. Oh well.
