I bought a new 06 Apex and sold my 04 RX1 to my friend but I put 10 inch carbides I played with the front and rear preload also the limitter strap all to stop the darting I even shimmed the ski rubber blocks ( the only thing that helped ) I want to make it right . He is willing to put skis on it . The only thing I told him was that it darts a bit! How do I bring it back to ride deacent ?

first off how many miles? the o4 had a throw away clicker shock I know for a fact this shock is only good for 2000 miles then its down hill all the way in the rear.when I sell one of my sleds I always go tru it front to rear dont want to sell what I would not buy myself. change out fluids check anti-freeze with a tester full grease in all zerks new skis is a great Idea I use old school c&a pros or ultras but lots of great skis out the if alan carries sly dogs they must be a nice ski. If you have access to a front end alinement bar check your front end . I have seen lots of a arm bushing wear on older four strokes some on less than 2000 miles Like I said depends on miles on the sled oh and dont forget to drop secendary take cir clip out and bearing seal out repack with grease I like energy release brand for this it is a long life grease then drop speedo housing three 12mm nuts and speedo sensor do the same I blow old grease with air or carb or brake cleaner and repack his sled will last longer and in the long run he will thank you hope this helps you can pm me if you need more info good riding to enjoy your new apex good choice I like my rtx I need to change my skis also on this on I was trying keep as stock as I can but ya right you know how that goes I have a 03 le with close to 20.000 grand dumped into it now all need is custom paint Kim

10" carbides seems a bit much, unless you have a couple hundred studs. That will make the thing turn very hard and seem twitchy. Quick fix for darting = doolies. W/o studs, 4" work fine. Make sire the toe-out is ~ 3/16" with skis hanging (off the ground.) Set weight transfer for slight wheelie and then tighten just a little. Set straps out to slight tension. Set front shocks preload with slight tension when skis are hanging.
My '04 shocks are still O.K. with 7K miles.

dualies will set you back $100 but do cure the darting completely..
Only problem.. THey push badly in sharp corners (they plug up with snow)

I know a few guys say the doolies push. But, I have never actually experienced that. I know the 4" doolies do not carve like an 8" carbide. But the pushing is something I have not experienced, unless the transfer is off a bit. Anyway, good luck!
