Just posted this on the RX board...thought i would put it here too.

I would suggest that anyone that has bought a 05' should test your coolant. I along with others have found that when we checked our coolant mixes.....they are turning out to be a super high level if not all antifreeze. Mine pegged the tester and must have been rated for -80 farenheight.....so.....

Owners man calls for a 60/40 mix.....I'm mixing as I type....lol

Guys your dealers should of checked the antifreeze, it's part of the "setup" that's included in the price. I'd be calling and telling them your situation.

Tork, they're an 05 Vector and RX-1 and you're correct they were both at 60%, maybe I just have a good dealer though!

Well...I wish mine was.....but no.....pegged the gage....

Hey SRX.....Im putting that rear cooler on tonight.....when i take off that crossover tube....can i just run the motor to pump out the rest of the coolant? Is there any other way to flush it?

Fixed it. Hey srxspec.
Do you know John Mcleod from Mitchell SD, has his cabin by Spearfish
and rides the black hills all the time.
One of his best friends is Donnie Roberts (6 ? time hill climbing champ)
makes the A arms for Hi Tech that we were talking about.
He has got a 163" RX1 that weights 492 lbs.
It has got that front mounted turbo and that alone saves 35 lbs over stock.

Mike, the name sounds familiar, but I can't put a face with the name right now. Mitchell is only about 45 miles from our shop. Those a-arms look very trick, I may have to get some of those!

Yeah, like correctly routing the throttle cable and checking the tension...LOL

I just checked my freezepoint, and it's good for -40. Not sure of the mix though. Must be ok.

My recommendation is to talk to your dealer, if they will not correct it for you then contact Yamaha and give them the dealer name and the problem you're having with the dealer.

Allen,
I am about 95% sure I can get a discount for you. John is gonna call Donnie and see if he can whip some up for the vector for me. John owns McLeod Printing, right by the Corn Palace. He has got Blondish hair about 5 10" medium build 51-52. His business runs so good he only works about 10 hours a week and he is doing something regarding sleds nearly 24-7 during the season.
Donnie is the dealer for the front mounted turbo. Wont produce the power of a regular, but 35 lb saving is huge and it is a grand cheaper and I think I can get a big discount on that.

Yes, the Lightning Pro turbo, it's a good well thought out kit. I'd be interested in a set of a-arms for a Vector and RX-1. Maybe even two sets for a RX-1. Let me know how he makes out, pm me with your phone number if you would like to discuss it over the phone some evening.

Will do the PM, like I said John has worked his one hour and now he is off talking to his buddies about sleddin. I sent him a fax. I am a firm beleiver in motivating people. I told him to tell Donnie that I thought we could sell 4 more sets of vector arms on the forum to help offset the developement/tooling costs.
I could shoot myself, I was in Watertown SD for nine days doing an 8 color press installation and just got back Sunday afternoon. I should have taken one more day and stopped by to see you.

On that turbo kit, John told me to hold off until at least mid Jan as he wants to get more involved with it and make sure it works good on the vector. Does anybody on the forum have one on an RX1??

gnip, sorry for whoring your thread, yours is a valuable and well stated point
Mike

My new vector antifreeze was pegged and thick. Diluted it by pumping some out of the carb coolant line while adding water to the reservoir. I think -40 or -50 is excessive in any environment. Spent 20 years in Fairbanks, AK and even then we didn't run it this thick.
