SOLVED: problem with the mtn lite - misfiring??

i've notice a problem with my mtn lite.. maybe more experienced people on here can shed some light on the issue.

after we have been riding a while, i sometimes need to put the sled in reverse.. i hit the button and the beeping starts along with the R light on the pod. then when i give it gas it starts almost like mis-firing in a cyclinder.. wont go above 4k rpm and makes a rhummmm-rhuuummmm-rhhuuummmm sound. it doesn't go into reverse or back into drive. i have to shut it off and restart, sometimes it works right away and sometimes it happens again when i put it back in R? this happened a couple of times this weekend.

any ideas? i had my dealer look it over and they didn't find anything?

There is a sensor that will cut off the engine if the reverse gear cannot go in. When the reverse light is flashing, it means the reverse gear is not engaged, you can swing the sled back or forward and the gear will engage. Mine does it too. I just lean back and push my body forward and the gear engages!! The misfire is an electronic safety to prevent engaging the clutch with the reverse gear not in properly!! 4000 rpm isnt enough for the clutch to engage.

The guy explained this to me at dealership when i was picking mine up. He said that occassionally it might not seat into gear and that I should just rock it and it will go in.

JP, My Dad had the same issue on his. I have more miles on mine and no problems. The shop in Glenwood said it has something to do with the clutch/belt. It sometimes does not allow the belt to fully relax and then it wont shift. Sometimes rocking it helps. Otherwise you need to shut it off and start again. The shop added some shims or spacers in the clutch and it made it better.
