I have a 2006 Apex RTX stretched out to a 144", I extended the stock mono skid and added 1.25 pred, 1.450 studs, 23 top gear, white sec. spring, snowtrackers, all new bearings, bushings, arctic fx graphics etc etc. (read sig.). And now with the extension it rides like #*$&@. Shock is still stock with 7000km. So probably need a revalve. I pound the bumps very hard, and was thinking of a nytro xtx for next year for this very reason but I love the top speed and grunt of the apex. I was also thinking about installing a 144 ZX2 for next year and a 3.5 rox riser(standup).. That would obviously give me a sled thats alot more comfortable in the rough stuff?? I have a tough decision to make for next year and just thaught I would see what you guys think!! I have ALOT of time and money invested into this thing but it's just not working in the rough stuff!! thanks guys oh and do you guys recommend a revalve on the fox floats??

I put the expert x under my rx1 and I love the ride.It was worth the money. With the expert, boss seat and 5" risers it's fun to ride.

That sucks that you don't like it. I did the samething but I move my skid 4" to make it a 144" using 136 rails and it rides great. I rode one with the setup you have, and u are right it rides like poor at best. Fpr you I would go with the XTX.

i would talk to frank at shocktec. Tell him what you did and he may be able to do something for you. He's a straight up guy and will help you out if he can. He's in ontario not far from you. I've had him revalve my shocks and the end result was incredible.

Dude ZX2 is all you need that sled will fly through the rough and you will be waiting for everyone at the end. Its the best skid I have ever been on, its simply amazing how good it works.

I think it would be head and tails better then a XTX.

Before all the money spent though I would spend the $100 or so and get that shock revalved by someone who knows what they are doing and you may be surprised how well it does.

living the same life here.
i pulled the CK skid out of my RTX and put in a 121 arctic cat suspension....wooohooo, it was awesome.
then i put rail extensions on and went to a 144......now it rides like a tank. I swear i could jump it off building without bottoming! I will be installing softer springs to cure my problem.
interesting about the "2011 xtx" appears to be the same CK skid my rtx came with only longer......no thanks. that skid was horrible in a 121 and I would never buy anything associated with it again.

good luck.

I tried softer springs but then it bucked me and still wasn't a plush ride. Figure with a 144" it should be smooth as silk. I dunno we'll see next year. I need something that ell take the abuse.. and yes the apex is a bit "heavy feeling" for poundin the junk..
