Some good words for Yamaha

nhrxrider, dam that story got me all misty eyed! Add in Bunny and you could star as Johnny Skeptical in the next DVD. Enjoy the sled. :D

Now thats a happy ending we all like to hear. LaLaLa Hope you are enjoying you new motor and my hats off to Yamaha for making it all right to a customer with a really bad experience it WAS the right thing for them to do! :yam:

Just waiting for more snow. And now that the sled is back in great running shape, I can concentrate on all the little mods i wanted to take care of for the past couple years, but have been putting off because of the engine problems. I can also get to know my new neighbors, who happen to have sleds. Unfortunately most of them ride Doos...but maybe they will come around after riding with an RX.

I want to thank all of you on here for listening to my previous posts...some patiently, some not so patiently...but maybe you can understand how I was feeling now.

Jim

Jim, that is great news. Remember what I told you early on, cooler heads prevail. I am thrilled you will be riding again this season and espeically on a Yamaha that they fixed. Everyone these days wants to run to an Attorney and deal with the problem that way. After lengthy conversations, you did the right thing in voicing your displeasure and holding their feet to the fire. The posts were getting old, but you stayed on message and did not bash. Just the facts. Now lets make up for lost time and get some long trips in this year. I am flexible during the week if you can break away. Did you have them put in the 150FI motor or an 03 motor, ha ha. Looking forward to riding with you soon. Have a great holiday.

Well, I was actually a bit surprised today. If i remember correctly...one of the changes for '05 was a switch to a few magnesium parts to save weight, correct? If so, I have an '05 motor...the valve cover has "magnesium" cast into it...I don't remember seeing that on my '03 motor. So...I may have just shaved a few lbs. off the sled!!! Not that weight savings is a big priority for me...but i wouldn't mind offsetting a couple of the accessories I've added.

Duiring the week I can usually ride during the day, but I have to be at work for 3:00. Sometimes I can get fridays off.

Did you hear the whole story on why NC4X4 went out of business? Friggin Acrtic Cat. Although I think its good that Dalton picked them up. They do real well with Ski-Doo and are open 7 Days a week and late on Friday also. Makes last minute stops on the way to camp possible.

I had no idea why they went out of business, just that they had. In fact, the only way I found that out is because I went over there to check on my sled, and all the sleds were gone, and the place cleaned out! I had no idea they were closing (would have been kind of nice for them to contact the sled's owner to let him know his sled was leaving the shop) until I got there and everything was gone. I was lucky Dalton Mtn. was so close, because I was able to see the Yamahas from NC's driveway.

I do have to say, even before my experience with Dalton Mtn., that I had heard very good things about them. I have a friend who purchased a Doo from them, and they gave him a great price, and great service...so he bought his next one there the next season. That one needed warranty clutch work, which was noticed during a ride near that area. We rode into the dealership for him to make an appt. to have it looked at, and they came right out and took care of him on the spot, with a very short wait. Well nedless to sayt he bought his next sled there (went from a 2-up to a 600 SDI), and his girlfriend bought hers there as well. Then ANOTHER friend came up to buy his there because they have always treated him so well while he was in the area. By the way, all of these people live in the southern part of the state (near Keene) and drive all the way up here. I guess that says something about them. And the hours are definately more convenient than NC4x4.

What was the deal with AC, why they closed shop? Not enough sales? It seemed like they had a good amount of AC sales. Not like a larger dealership, but they seemed like they were usually busy. Maybe they let a few AC customer's sleds sit around a few months too long as well... :drink:

Arctic Cat wanted to move their line over to Currier after the owners sold NC a couple of years ago but they had no real reason to make the switch. Last year all sales were down and they got killed on Cat. NC sold less than half the Cat units. When this years order went in Cat set a min amount for them to pic up. They (NC) decided that with no major changes in the 06 model line up they would focus on their left over units and just fill in the blanks with 06's. Cat said no deal, its all or none. When they said they couldn't do it Cat decided to cash in on all the leftovers even thought they had not yet been sold. NC couldn't come up with the cash so they decided to drop Arctic Cat. Cat said they did not have to take the leftovers back into inventory by contract. NC had nothing left to do but close the doors. Yamah made the deal to switch to Dalton at that point. Cat approached Dalton also and Dalton said pound sand. They were not impressed with the whole situation with NC.

Hey " nhrxrider", I never seen your past posts about your engine problems(I'm a newbie). What was the problem and what caused it to use so much oil?

I wasn't around to see the rings when they were removed, but i was told there were deposits on them, most likely caused by a combination of things: low ring tension, additives in our local fuel, and certain types of riding. It made sense to me, and explains why some people have the problem, and some don't. And I haven't seen anyone else have oil usage as bad as I had it. Honestly, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another RX, because severe oil usage is extremely rare. It seems fairly common to have minor to moderate usage...maybe 1/2 qt. in several thousand miles, and there have been a few reporting up to a qt. in 500-1000 miles, but very few.
