My seat cover ripped for no apparent reason down both sides on my 05 rx-1 with less than 1000 miles on it. Long story short; I called my local yamaha stealer and he told me $245 + tax. I call good old John at parker yamaha in Parker AZ (yes they can get sled parts in AZ) He told me $148.95 +$10 for shipping. Its nice to find a yamaha dealer that won't rape you just because you need a part.

Now I need to get my seat off and Im not sure where to start. I figured if anyone could give me simple instructions its TY!!!
Thanks in advance!!! :4STroke: :yam:

If you need any quad or sled parts call Parker Yamaha and talke to John. They are cheaper than any dealer in my area by a long shot every time. (new bumper for my grizzly- local dealer $209.95+tax Parker yamaha $116+14shipping)

You need to take the back plastic cover off between the exhaust. Then behind that you will find two rods with nuts. Take the nuts off and lift the seat up and out. (if you remove the exhaust caps the plasic piece will come right out without fighting it. ALSO! you only have to remove the top bolts and the bottom two side bolts to remove the covers...the other ones dont hold the cover on, but just filles the holes for looks.)

Oya, dont forget there are wires up near the front right side of the seat that need to come unhooked.

No other bolts holding that seat down, the front slips under the gas tank.

What familyman said; Just to clarify though the allen head screws in the 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock positions are real. They just have lock nuts to hold them in the exhaust caps and serve no purpose other than create a nice five pointed star pattern.

The precise location of the tail light wiring plug on my sled was behind the black plastic pannel that screws to the right side of the fuel tank. I don't know if this is standard. If so, you might need to slide the seat back just enough to remove the screw in the bottom corner of this pannel to access the wiring plug.

What Jim said...but if you yank on the wire hard enough it no longer is behind that cover....JUST KIDDING! Dont do that..

I pulled mine out to access it easier for turbo adjusting. Originally kinda half in that plastic cover.

I dont have any clue what Jim is talking about being fake??? He might be loosing it..

Thanks alot guys. This is always the best place to get accurate info. I hope I dont have this seat cover issue again.
