searchin ebay the other day and found some 6000k hod H4 headlights. their 100/95 watt compared to the 60/55's that used to be in the phazer. they do pull a bit more power, but with the lights on high, and both thumb and handgrips on high my battery is stable at 14.2volts at idle. 8.95 and free shipping from hong kong. i'd say twice to 3 times brighter, and wider then oem bulbs. any opinions on running these bulbs even though they pull like twice as much as stock ones? will my stator be suffering?

I use Britelites.net 100/55 bulbs but use the 55 low beam most of the time thinking the stator would be under less stress. I also use their 1157 LED tail lights thinking that would lessen stator stress. Brightlites has a chart to gage what bulb you can use relative to your stator output. They also have a bulb called the Flamethrower that is really bright.

the phazer uses a led tailight, so that shouldnt draw too much power, the main power draw is the grips. i'll check out that website

I would watch for melting the headlight housing and reflector. More power more light more heat and yes I believe you are stressing your stator. Its a yamaha though and may be able to take it no problem.

thought about melting the headlight. it does get pretty dang hot!! but when your driving it shouldnt be too bad i'm hoping. i got 75 km's on, i'll quickly take it apart and check for any damage

I would'nt recommend running the high wattage bulbs. They'll fry the plugs and possibly start your sled on fire, not to mention what could happen to the stator. I tried some plasma glows 100/80 watt bulbs and cooked the plugs beyond use.
I now have PIAA sport bulbs and they're brighter than all the other bulbs and pull the same wattage as stock, but there not cheap $45 ea. and unlike silverstars they last.

For brighter lighting this is the safe way to go and its cool to boot.

mounting the balasts on a phazer could be fun, its already a tight squeeze to get the side panels on.

I love my HID's, but PIAA also makes really good bulbs that don't tax the stator so bad, but are really good and bright.

PIAA makes comes bulb that put out 100/130 and draw only 55/60 watt so your stator will not get wax out that what i have been using and love them
