The drive shaft bearing on my 03 rx1 let go,i've fixed the bearing but the speedometer wont work. Would someone have a trick to fix this other than changing the whole speed sensor.Would die grinding the holes oblong to move the sensor closer work?

I assume you put the gear back on the Drive Shaft. Did the Drive shaft contact the sensor when the bearing failed? The mount is set up to be a certain distance from the gear. Decreasing that distance most-likely will not fix it correctly. Did the wires get damaged or disconnected?
If the Sensor was contacted, I suggest considering replacement. Also, you can test the sensor by tapping in to the sensor harness while the sensor is still connected. On the harness side of the sensor's connector, tap into the Black/Green and White wires with a DC Volt Meter set to read at least 5VDC. Then slowly rotate the track. You should see the voltage climb from ~.6 VDC to 4.5VDC twice for each track rotation. You do this with the sensor still connected to the harness. Put the "+" Lead on the White wire. If you are not seeing that voltage fluctuation, the sensor is no longer useable.
Note that at that particular connector, the wire colors change. You need to be looking for the Harness side of the connector to find the White wire.

sensor
The sensor got worn about 1/8 as i stopped right away when the bearing let go.It would seem reusable to me but it's like 3/16 away from the gear.Yamaha should have put that sensor in the front of the gear, this would never happen.I will try testing it with a volt meter before like you said and go from there. Thanks for the help.

If Yamaha put the sensor to the front it would get destroyed easier when the belt blows... If your one bearing went I would be replacing the rest too both sides of the driveshaft and both sides of the jackshaft.

If the sensor has been damaged, then personally, I would replace it. To me, that is an electical device that is tied to other low voltage electrical components. I do not want to risk those?
I too would be looking at the Mag Side Drive Shaft Bearing. It may have gotten stressed when the PTO side was out of round. While you are at it, you can inspect the Mag Side Jackshaft bearing. However, I am not sure why you would need to look at the PTO side jackshaft bearing, because of this incident. Typically the drive shaft PTO side fails because of water intrusion. The PTO side Jackshaft bearing is typically not prone to this.
You could remove the secondary and the PTO side bearing seal, inspect and repack or replace it, due to mileage though. At about 5K miles mine looked like it needed repacking, so I did it. It is much easier to repack than replace that one.

Someone mentioned that they had paid $ 35 for their speed sensor.Got one priced here at $94.00 + 13% tax. at the dealer. Is there an after market company that sells these.I find this a little to pricy for a wire and sensor....
There calling for rain here for 3-4 days so i have time to shop around..Thanks
