Hey guys..

I read on here awhile back there was a thread on how to modify the gear by removing or grinding off two teeth and it made the speedo within 1mph of radar...its showed a pic of plastic gear with 2 teeth ground.

Well,i took alook at my buds gear on GT and its not plastic...its a normal steel gear...was it last years rx1 that were plastic gears?

has anyone done a mod to the GT yet to correct speedo?...how hard would it be to grind the steel gear?..and,are we certain the GT is OFF by same amount as the rx1s were?...i read here guys seeing 128mph while actuall GPS showed 109...thats just crazy how far off it is.

thanks
dan

I don't know what you saw in the pic, but none of them had plastic "gears". It's steel and it's called a pick-up. It has to be steel or it won't work. The sensor is magnetic. I don't think any one has been able to get an accurate speed yet because of conditions. You'll probably have to wait until the lakes freeze and people get some radar runs. I'll be grinding mine also after I gps it. I would not go more than 1 tooth at a time though.

Yes that would be our two sleds,my attak and his gt both all stock and best gps readings we were able to run on plowed hard road was 123 speedo gps 109 and i had a reading that spiked to 128 when track was spinning up,my tach also read 11,000 just cut one to a time and give it a try, teeth that is,and if ya cut two teeth do it 180 degrees apart from each other, sorta evens the pick up out. Now i checked my speedo vrs gps at varied speeds as well at 70 mph gps speedo would read 81 and it was alitlle closer the slower you go,and worse the faster you went, hope this helps.. Pete :exc:

yeah there is a post on here with a pic of ground off gear....im rather certain it said it was plastic...i also wondered how a pickup would work with plastic...i beleive it was an rx1 last season,he took off 2 teeth and were off the same amount as the new gts are....he said it got it within 1mph...still trying to find that thread.

how hard is it to grind the steel gear?..

thanks

Ok i found it..and it wasnt plastic at all...i guess when i read people were typing in CUTTING off one tooth i assumed it was plastic...but i now see it has to be ground off or filed....

so has anyone done this?...what did you use?..would a dremel grinder work?..or need something more heavy duty?...has anyone done 2 teeth on apex yet?

heres the pic i found on other thread.

i was hitting 126-127 on my attak and the best i seen was 108 on my gps, i think the big gaps are due to early season riding, i know i was getting alot of track spin.. and i definitely would gps it first and then only grind one spline at a time and gps it again..im not going to worry about it because i ride with my gps at all times..

Thats what i will do to iron, although i only saw 128 once and now i know it was track spin,as i had my transfer rod set to min. transfer, but mostly was hitting 123 and 108-109 gps,now that is closer to what my old rx1 would be off,but like i told everyone from my last april demo rides that yammi was happy to let everyone think they are going faster than they really are,the one thing that i did like about my fusion last year was the gages and the fact that they were dead on... :die
