So I am sure this probably has a very simple answer... and yes I did do a search and was unable to find anything that addresses this specificly.

I am in the process of replacing my spindle bushings and I can not figure out how to take apart the OEM ski mount bushing/spacer/washer assembly.

Anybody have any words of wisdom or tricks on how to disassemble these components?

Thanks,

Kope

If you can get a thin flat blade screwdriver in to pry it out that will work. I used a small hacksaw blade and cut one blade with almost through the bushing, then used a screwdriver to pry it out. Much easier that way since the bushing can collapse from the blade with cut into it. Does that make sense? Just don't cut into the spindle. What bushings did you get?

Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately I am still at trying to get the spacers and bushing out of the spindle.
I have disconnected and removed the ski/bolt from the mount and that is as far as i have been able to get.

Thoughts?

Put some never seize on the new one's when you do get it apart, try and lube them a couple time's a year, you can buy a seal/bushing driver kit,or try to take a junky extension for a ratchet and try and pound it out that way with alot oil/lube.might have to grind on the extension head to get it to fit into bushing, might help?

Thanks for the input.
So the bushing is press fit through the spindle and the spacers that are located on either side are press fit onto the bushing?

Just press or hammer them apart/out? Is that the correct approach here?

Thanks again,

Mike

Correct, the new bushings are pressed into both sides of the spindle, the spacer goes through them with the other spacers that go on spacer on both sides of the spindle. The spacer shouldn't be pressed in there either. I'm pretty sure that is how it goes........haven't had mine apart in about a year haha

Thanks for the help guys.
Looks like I just need to take the skirt off and try a little harder on pushing the old bushings out.

The worst part about working on sleds during the summer is you have way to much time to think about what you are doing and coming up with better justifications on the money you need/want to spend!

Is it snowing yet?

Use a soft hammer and a long punch to tap the spacers out, once the spacer is out use a small punch and the same hammer to tap the bushinings out from the opposite side. Use a deep socket ( 1/2" I think ) and liberal amounts of WD-40 to tap the new bushings into place. I've installed allot of these into my JRE spindles.
