I apologize if this has been asked - I did search and read through a lot of posts and found some answers but I am still a bit confused.

I am looking at picking up a used bender turbo setup for my RX1. Not sure what stage it is (I think 2 but not sure what the stage 1 was) it has a Garet M24 turbo. Will this work with reverse and is there anything should look for?

Also, I do not want to modify the engine (add a head gasket particularly). I know I should be able to run 93 on low boost without a problem - correct? Many times riding in the UP I may not be able to get 93 or I may be getting questionable gas. What are the pitfalls?

Quick breakdown.

Most common is the stage II. It has an intercooler. You should unscrew the wastegate arm all the way out until there is no pressure on it. Then screw it in about 4 turns. When you go to put it on there will be a little tension. I can explain more if you decide to get it.

This will give you a low boost around 6lbs. Guys are saying they are running 8lbs on 93 oct without a head gasket added. There is calculations for boost and "safe" running ranges!

Thanks both of you - I appreicate it.

I thought I read somewhere that the Stage 2 work with RX's with reverse - does this mean that the stage 1's do not?

Ya what he said. they are all three designed to go out and around the chain case and clear the reverse lever.

I'd never run over 6lbs with pump gas with one headgasket. JMO..

I had my sled at 6lbs and it felt like I had the breaks on. Couldnt believe the deference between 10lbs. Simply put in a head gasket and turn the boost up. Its night and day!
