Hi guys/gals: just finished installing the Star Suspension relocate kit today, went from 121" Ripsaw to 128" Ripsaw 2 with 1.25" lugs. Thanks to Grizztracks/Fran for the recommendation, and advise, and pictures! Wow! is all I can say, like riding a new sled! After 4000 miles I have to learn how to ride this beast all over again! And that's in a good way! If you 121" guys want to see how great and flat and smooth a shorty can ride, do this mod!
And Ripsaw 2, great track, really hooks up and goes! Great in powder too, a lot better than original Ripsaw.
If any one has done this, have you modified the snow flap for length? With track relocated the stock flap is now too short, shoots a 20 foot roster out the back bout 5' in the air! My trail buddies aren't gonna like that! Any suggestions for that ? Thanks Star Suspension you guys nailed it! Very positive review!

It requires a bit of customizing but the flap off a new viper should do the trick. If you search viper snow flap you'll find a few write ups on here from guys that have done it

It really is the best modification for the 121". It's to bad they didn't come that way from the factory. I now run the relocate with a 136" Ice attack which so far I'm really happy with.

I did the Star relocate and the ZBroz front end at the same time so I don't know which upgrade made all the difference but it is night and day. this sled absolutely rips through the turns now. ski lift is all but gone now. Highly recommend the upgrade.

I bought a star kit and can't make up my mind if I want to leave it at 128 or go 136

buff- good to hear you like the ripsaw 2. I was thinking that track or the cobra 1.375" (i think that's the size)

I don't have a lot of trail time on the 136" but so far I've noticed much better traction and stopping ability. I don't get off trail much but was able to test the 136" in some deeper snow and it stayed on top much better with greatly reduced track spin. On the rougher trails the extra length is definitely bridging the bumps better. The sled bucks a lot less and the overall ride is more plush although I think I'm bottoming out a little more now but that may be due to the new Ohlins center shock setup. I'm planning on installing a dual rate spring on the Ohlins before next season. Some have expressed concerns with reduced transfer but I didn't find it to be a big issue and there is not much of a difference between the 128" and 136". I can still lift the skis but definitely not as much as a stock 121". So far I've experienced no negative effects with the 136" and I would recommend skipping over the 128" and going to the relocate/136" setup.

Thanks Grizz.....I do a lot of trail riding, but there's lots of lakes around here, so I think the 136 would be best in snow/slush

what tunnel extension did you go with?

I got the track/extension kit from Tracks USA. If you order online select the 136" kit with whatever track you want then in the comment box specify that you only need a 4" rail extension to go from 128" to 136".

But your still using the 121" skid correct?
How does it ride any different then or span bumps, just a longer track & the skid moved?

Any pics?

You still use a 121" skid relocated to accommodate a 128" track which improves the tracks approach angle. Adding 4" rail extensions to the 121" skid will allow for a 136" track. The 136" setup greatly improves the overall ride across rougher trails.
