I was wondering, what is the real difference from what Star offers, and what some of the other shops like Ulmer are doing to make these 128" in length and dropping them. I just had Ulmer suggest changeing mine to a 128" to help with the ride etc. Which he would be relocating the skid, and changing the mount location. Which makes the angle less, the track lower and longer. Is this similar, or different, and if different how? Just thinking outloud here

Ulmer is talking about the same thing as star. just moving the skid back to balance the sled out and give you a little more track on the ground without rail extentions. i would like to move mine back and put a 144 in on my extended skid but dont have the ching this year...

Cool that is what I thought. I'm thinking of the 128" but the idea of putting more into this is giving me flashbacks from the last Nytro . To bad all of these take off 128" tracks from the AC sleds are 1". That trade in program is producing a lot of 128" tracks we could use on ours for this application, but 1" is borderline for trail riding

If I keep my sled another season I too plan on doing the star rear suspension upgrade to my XTX. For the price it seems to hard to pass up. I am also considering doing the Skinz A-Arms to. Do you guys think that would be overkill?

The Star kit has nothing to do with re-locating the skid or the track approach angle. The skid stays mounted in the stock location. It removes the center shock lower pivot linkage and replaces it with a solid lower mount for the center shock.
The rear transfer rod mount is converted from a solid mount to a pivoting linkage.
According to the weight travel graph on their web page, it looks like it makes the suspension close to linear progressive. Softer in the mid part of the travel and stiffer/harder to not bottom out. The owner says it makes it feel like there is twice the amount of travel and that everyone likes it. But, he's the seller. We'll see if it works.

Not sure if you looked at the sit ..they do have a relocate kit that moves the skid back not sure how much plus the other stuff you talked about....so you may want to get on there and really check it out

this post is getting confusing. Origanal post was about the xtx kit. Sheetwrights sled is a 121 in RTX so the XTX geometry fix will not work with the rtx skid. I have heard good things about the xtx kit though. Installing one on my uncles apex this fall.

Hey iahacker! Can you post your results from last winter on adding the Star Linkage kit to your 2011 Apex XTX? I am about ready to pull the trigger on ordering the kit for my 2012 Apex XTX. I have read many posts from happy Nytro owners who have installed the kit but very few Apex XTX owners. Hearing how it worked for you would be greatly appreciated!

it will work the same, same suspension. had star kit in my sled last year and really liked it. suspension action is improved, and weight transfer is improved a lot. well worth the cash. note...they also have a center shock mod which is suggested they make it a bit shorter (3/8" I think) and have a reasonably priced re-valve package available.

Thanks stubb111. I will get the shocks done by Star to go with the kit. Think snow!

^I agree. The star suspension XTX kit is the bed mod I have done to my nytro. I trail ride 90% of the time, and the sled just rocks now. Makes the skid feel like you put all new shocks in.
If anyone gets it, may as well send him your shocks too. He puts a spacer in the front to prevent the over-extending and limiting strap Issues. (i learned the hard way on that one $$$$$$$$$$$).
