My 06 nytro wouldn't start on the weekend. When I turn the key the starter seems to spin or at least sounds like it does but nothing engages. I turned the clutch counter clockwise a little bit by hand and the the starter engaged, engine started and I made it home. I haven't tried to start it since. A few weeks ago it started getting harder to start. which lead to won't start. Seems like the bendex isn't coming out. Any ideas what the problem is and how to fix it?

I'm think you have to lift engine to get at the starter.Ring gear bolts are know to break.

There is no ring gear. No bendix drive. Starter works in a oneway bearing clutch arrangement also known as an over running clutch. Mine on my 05 Vector failed in Jan.05 and was replaced under warrantee with no problems since. 8000 + miles later.
