Have turbo mtn. vector, starter not sounding wright, louder than normal
& sounds like might be loose. stopped in a yamaha dealer in calgary & owner said that it was a possibility.anybody out there have any starter problems??? just woundering before i start the investagation.only have 1500 miles on sled , frount mount alpine, sled just rocks, not even a hick-up till this. any info on the starter problem would be appreciated.

I have seen a bad starter once on a RS Venture, same engine and starter as your sled. On this sled the starter did not let go completely after the engine started and did get dragged around as the owner drove his sled, this led to battery drain and a destroyed starter. After a while the starter would not crank the engine anymore and the battery got drained. Owner reported on some noise but did not understand what it was before it was to late. He had to be towed down from the mountains. Yamaha warranted this failure, nothing else was damaged, just the starter and battery. But changing the starter is some serious business, the engine has to come out.
