Decided to keep my 05 Rx1 but wanted a better ride. I put a set of Fox Float 2's on the front last weekend. This weekend I will start to install my 2009 Z1 Turbo LXR 128 skid with 300 miles.
I have heard good results from this mod. I don't have a lot of time but hope to get it done by the end of October.

I have that same set up under my 99 t cat right down to the fox float 2s.I think when im done with this ice ripper ill try that set up in the rx1. ill be watching. are you going to extend the tunnle? i would add a heat exchanger to the rear.

I will wait until after I have the skid installed to decide on the tunnel extension . So tell me how do you like your suspension mods on your T cat

It was great. The year I did that we got very little snow. And it did run hotter. Not out of controle hot just hotter, and it does need a slight extend I think. Trucks usa says no though. I ran through a ditch and didn't hear any thing but during a beer stop I saw the studs caught the end of the tunnle.Ill probably put the stocker back under there and extend the rx1. Please keep notes. There is a guy on hcs with a 04 zr9 that has done that and so much more stuff. Do a search there in the zr ssection. name is steve I think.
PS that suspension looks killer under the t-cat.

With the longer track the snow doesn't go in the tunnle like before. The T-cat needs a 2'' extend and a heat exchanger back there. It really needed more cooling capacity anyway.

I have the front suspension mount shaft for the cat slide suspension located and installed. I had to make spacers becauce the Yamaha tunnel is wider. I removed the Yamaha brackets and welded the spacers to it and reinstalled the brackets.
After the suspension is installed and it workes like it should I will share the dimension. This is my first attempt to install a different skid and want to make sure it works and has proper clearances.

What skid did you put in yours, and were you happy with the results?

Sounds like a good deal. I was not doing extroverts. Are you having a problem with it jumping?
How is the ride and durability of the skid? Was yours a Sno Pro or LXR?

Thanks
No progress on the installation today. I am waiting on rear mount brackets to come in. I did put the track and suspension under the sled for a test fit. Everything looks good so far.
I spent the day removing the green plastic backers on the new track. I had a old Ripsaw track that was studded and had alum double backers. I removed all the studs and backers, not a fun job because the aluminum nuts were corroded to the studs. I used all the alum backers on my new track. I bought a 2003 ZR 900 last year for my kids that needs a motor rebuilt. It is not studded, so I will use the green backers and the used studs on that sled when I get my sled done.
Here is the pic of the ZR 900
The owner rebuilt it from top to bottom including engine, shocks rebuilt, new cluthes, new track, all bearings ect... On the first trip out he burned a piston. He decided to get out and I got a great deal on it. It is super clean. Not excited about having a two stroke but the price was right.
