Ive noticed that my steering has excessive amount of play in it. I took it to the dealer and they said there isnt anything they can do? Have anyone else noticed this problem? If so is there a fix?

Mine has some play, not sure if i would call it excessive. More importantly the bars are crooked and it's at the dealer now getting everything aligned. well see how it comes out.

Mine too has steering slop. Its annoying but not a real issue IMO.
My 04 has steering slop in it as well. I looked it over and it seems to come from the steering post moving ever so slightly but gets magnified the farther it is way like at the handle bars.

You didnt say how many miles.
Considering the linkage jogs around the motor, I think the ball joints are pretty good quality. But mine at 700 miles started to get worse..... and it is because I have slop in the spindle bushings. You might check there. Good news is the bushings are cheap...oh, that is the bad news too.

I saw someones sled with 1800 miles. The play was at the first linkage from the steering shaft. Looks like too much work to take that apart. Just time consuming.
Is it tough to get at I would like to get rid of the play it keeps me from going faster as it was enhancing the darting also.

No more slop than any of my other sleds with similar mileage.
Yamaha doent use near as good of quality rod ends on the snowmobiles as they do on thier quads.60+ motocross races in the dirt and mud plus trail riding once in a while and yfz tie rods are still tight,A Arm bushings still tight.
Id like to see zerk fittings on every suspension part front and rear and steering parts that can have a zerk.

I noticed a good 1/2 to 3/4 in. of slop this past week out in Wyoming on mine. I made a few adjustments to try to eliminate the darting. It was hard to turn and wanted to dart right off of the trails. I have 1735 miles on mine now.

Shim your skis gets rid of most darting and sled will be easier to steer.

I have 1200mi on my apex, i agree with sled dog about the play increasing with every connection, loose here loose there, it all adds up. I put the precision ski on to reduce push in the turns, they took care of that problem, but gave me another. DARTING, and with the play in my steering its terrible.

i had it, dealer got rid of it. I had the front to back kind as well.
What did they do?
What did the dealer do? Remove steering play or fixed darting?
