As a not so small person...and not sooo timid when not touring people...I tend to stress test things a little...
I have sheared Risers off...sheared steering posts...etc.
geometry and forces on things are pretty important to watch when you are adding more leverage (which risers do)...I was in the back country two years ago, and just barely tapped a tree...and went right over the bars....with the bars still in my hands...since I am 6'2"...and my 4+" riser did this...I cannot fathom what your going to be doing/adding being 6'6"
just bring a few parts along in case you take out your home made parts...(which I take spares along regardless...

You forgot to mention whos steering post relocator survived that "little tap" with that tree completely unscathed, MT

Hey Dream - I appreciate the touring and all the advise you passed on. Which includes respecting the mountains and being prepared. I have gone through a few of my own parts now as well and have quickly realized you get what you pay for. IE my boards 2 years ago.
If you stop respecting the mountains - make sure you bring plenty of backups and contingency plans.

ROFL, those boards are are still one of the funniest things I have ever seen...
have you ever posted pics of those?

My tree "love tap" was pre-OFT...So, I had rigged something up myself...and the part that sheared off...looked deceptively identical to this one...
with the only exception being, I always use Grade 8 bolts...I tend to tigten things pretty tight, and well grade 5's dont last... honestly....it was only a "tap" and the 9" thick tree did not even show a scratch....

I run the OFT relocated and added a Lakeaffect riser from superman. Both products are purpose built from engineers who not only understand the physics but also perfectionist.
You cannot got wrong with eithe product.
Hopefully be back soon, looking for a 4 stroke replacement for my viper for the trails in the Midwest. Still love my doo for the deep stuff, just have to keep the warranty up to date on it.
