So I took a look at my front end last night and I noticed that my ski spindles are a little sloppy.
I'm not sure what to look for in the ball joint department. How can I tell if I really need to replace them and how do you get the ball out of the upper A-arms?

Also, the spindle bushings are still there but the sleeve that fits inside of it is completely rusted. So much so that the spacers are rusted right on to it. I was just going to try dousing it with liquid wrench and maybe getting some heat on to it after banging the crap out of it to set up vibration but any suggestions would be helpful. If all else fails then out comes the cut-off wheel.

I am assuming that if I want to get these spindle bushings out you just pound em out with a socket and hammer?

That's what I did when I installed Ulmer's spindle bushings.

There is another thread on here where the guy used a cold chisel to roll the edge of the bushings and then hammered them out.

To check the balljoints raise sled so no weight is on skiis then lift up on spindle.Yamaha has a spec for the slop in balljoints but new there is none or none noticeable. Replace with stock balljoints and just keep an eye on them. The aftermarket balljoints which use a bronze two piece race wear faster than stock so are a waste of time.

UP Bushmans spindle update kit is the way to go and I highly recommend it.Getting a rusted spacer out is going to require some hammering.Worth it though.
