I have a 06 Apex GT that was stretched to a 136". I am going to give her more low end for the corner to corner action. Thinking 22/38-23/40. I know there has been a ton of writing on this. Have two questions though. What was the stock gearing supposed to be on the 06 GT? Don't know if the previos owner changed it when he went 136. Secondly one post said for the gearing I am looking at I might have to adjust the overdrive? Right now I have the number 5 clutch off of my Nytro on this with the Hauck power overdrive sheave. Any changes in clutching need to be done besides the usual fine tuning?

Just wanted to make sure someone wasn't pulling something over on me when they changed it.

stock GT gearing is 24/38
your best setup will be 23/38 IMO,with a good clutch kit from Ulmer of Proline(i run proline)....you can keep stock chain.
an overdrive sheave OR washers(cheap way for same results) on your secondary wont do anything unless you cut your FRONT clutch.
unless you radar over 116 MPH or so,you DO NOT NEED to cut your primary clutch sheaves for overdrive since you should be able to hit 116 in THEORY with those gears and stock YAMMIE Overdrive.
when you use a 23 top gear you come closer to running out of gear at about 116....personally i wanted to never run out of gear incase i was able to hit those speeds(IE:tailwind) so I had my primary shaved to allow belt to come to TOP of primary, and inturn you then need to shim or washer the secondary to open to match the primary at Overdrive/top speed.
hope that helps.
