I rolled the sled down a hill today and bent the handlebars,
Is it safe to straighten them out? Anyone done it before?
Its rideable, but very annoing to ride the way it is right now.
Thanks

i've done a few sets... torches... heat them up, bend back.. caution tho... when you do this, or bend back anyway for that fact.. they are not as strong as before.

It's always best to replace bent handlebars, especially if they were aluminum. After bending - and rebending - they will be weaker.

I understand that they will be weakened. Question is, will they be so much weakened that it could become a problem?
Also, will they be more or less weakened if i heat them up before i bend them back? Or will it be the same?
This has been a wicked expensive season with a lot of carnage, so anything that can be fixed/reused until the summer is very good.
I dont do jumps so i guess the bars usually dont get that much beating?

If you cann,t afford to replace a set of dangerous handlebars, do you think you should really be riding anymore this spring ? I cann,t believe you would evan ask . Think about how you would control your sled with just half a handlebar. Change it asap, or quit riding if it,s to expensive for you to change it now. It isn,t worth the risk.

Bieniek rolled his Nytro this last weekend too, now the right side hangs lower than the left. The kid in parts at our local dealership said that it would be a little over $200 to replace. His recommendation, throw a bar around the end of it and slowly bend it back up.
and Dimebag, I've gotta ask, please tell me you have a video of what exactly you did on your profile picture....

When you wreck and roll as much as me there simply is no way to change every part that gets a little bent/ damaged.
That being said, I will replace the bars. I just want to be able to ride the sled until the new bars arrive. It usually takes a couple weeks from the US to me.
I would guess the chance of getting hurt by a rolling sled is greater than the chance that the handlebars would snap off just because i straightened them out a little bit?

Where is the bend in the bar? mine bent near the mount so i bent it back with a pipe and then the grip heater wouldn't work. I ended up replacing them heaters, grips and bars.

from what i have seen, if you "bend" back with out heating it will crack depending on how much it needs to come back up. I've successfully and safely heated up the bent spot so its orange(usually around clamp) and bent into position... then with a very wet rag, re-tempered the metal to get some strength back. Its metal boys.... you can work it anyway you need to! thats the beauty of it!

I would bet its not gonna go well, if you heat it then the paint is toast and the grips wont fair well as heat travels up the bar quickly and if you screw the grip then the heater will probably come off with it as mine did I tried to save them.
Whats your time worth, no one around your parts has changed out the stock bars for something else and might sell them to you to hurry the fixing?

I have a set of stock phazer barsI believe they are the same, I think both grips work but I would need to test them. How much is super fast shipping to you from me? PM me.

I have bent stock bars just by hitting a road approach and landing hard. If you crash alot replace them with aftermarket bars.
