Strongly thinking Turbo or Super Charger this year

Have 2009 Nytro RTX SE and seriously thinking about dropping the bucks on a Turbo or Super Charger. I have an awesome holeshot but get passed at 500 feet by the 800 E-Tech and a strong Apex. Will this investment make the Nytro the king? Plenty of torque, just don't have the top end I need!

Turboed nytros are a total blast. I had the chance to drive my buddies mcx 240 and mcx200 nytros. They have tons of pull and you will.have no problem with your buddies. But don't expect a bolt on trail turbo nytro.to pull from a apex Turbo. I haven't seen a stock nytro beat a apex on a strait out drag ever and the same goes with turboed versions. Pump gas turbo kits.

Thanks! Will I beat the stock E-Tech and non-turbo Apex on top end?

If all you are looking to do is beat slightly modes but not boosted 800's, apex models, and the occasional cat Turbo if you add a supercharger at 6-8lbs with an exhaust you could be upwards of 200hp and beat those three sleds all with no engine or fuel work to your sled. Which for a Nytro Shorty on the trail or long lake pull is pretty nice. I'm having Ulmer do this to mine. Using the yamaha/mpi. Kit, new header and turn out skins exhaust. You can get a nit more with the hindle in this but I wanted to keep the exhaust looking stock. This work with some clutching and gearing you will beat most on the trail. Obviously it won't beat hy jacked cats, or a boosted apex, but to do that you neeengine, fuel system work and better fuel. So it all depends on how far you want to take her.

As a FYI My shimmed head boosted apex 121" running 240 hp was dead even with a 800 etec this year because I had the clutching all jacked up from gearing and track changes. I had it in my head even with messed up clutching the sled would still blow by them, I was wrong. It's heading to ulmers dyno soon to dial it in LOL

Exactly having power is one thing. Getting it to the track is another. Without proper clutching, gearing, and suspension setups power is useless

A STOCK apex dialed in correctly should stay with a 800etec and then pass it on top speed.

a STOCK nitro with minor (but proper) modifications and dialed in correctly should stay with them both until top end where the apex might have it.

That was my point if your GOOD with setting up a sled you can have a stout NA sled, adding boost makes the set up less exact with better results but with how I ride and who I ride with I have never been able to 'tune' mine I ust turn the key and hope that ulmer had it dialed, which he did till I changed everything so back it goes. LOL

Its funny the LACK of time I have ever spent tuning my sled, really snow is so sparce I never have clutched it or anything after ulmer got me close. I should invest more time but its hard with my location and work load. When I do get to ride I want to just ride and no messing around...it was embarassing last year when it wouldn't do over 108 mph on the dream meter and blowing my first belt in 3800 miles.

Absolutely correct.

My daily driver is bone stock 2011 Apex. Walks away from Etec 's after 400 to 500 feet at a pretty good clip.

I dont know how Yamaha gets these thing to work as well as they do with the same HP and weighing 150 lbs or more than the Etec but they do.

 :yam:

Yep^ My body has a 2012 800 E=Tec and I holeshot him with my Nytro for 4-500 feet then he passes me as my sled tops out at 100MPH and his does about 110. Pisses me off that I can't beat him on the top end! That is why I hope to add either a charger or turbo to fix that??????

The Nytro motor and gears are not setup for top end at all. I just sold me 2011 800 etec in the spring.. they are damn fast on top for sure..

You did know that you can get a hindle that is hidden behind the stock plastic right? That is the one that I picked up this summer, little sleeper action!

A nitrous kit is perfect for this if your just looking for some top end. No effect the rest of the time when your just riding. :nos

I actually looked at doing both together. The handle and 180 kit, but a little steep together for this years purchases already. I got the kit brand new from a dealer that saved me over a grand . So I jumped on it even before I bought the sled. There are guys who get stuck with orders and will just dump stuff. Last I looked there was a guy with a new mpi turbo on eBay for about $2300.00 . Hard to beat that type of pricing to hp ratio imo
