i put a stud through heat exchanger and lost all my coolent b 4 i knew it was gone. the sled shut off im wondering if it has a fluid level or if it gets so hot it automatically shuts off incase this happens i let it cool down and it started right up just wanna make sure i didnt do any damage to the motor

Did it actually shut off? Or did it seize? Was their a warning light (that you noticed?)
There is an over heat sensor so it would shut down if the temp rose. They often shut down on the trail if you let them idle to long on warmer days.

I've heard from varying sources that the sensor won't shut the engine down if you're on the throttle -- it'll just blink at you.

it didnt seize it shut off andright when i notice it shutting down i looked down and saw the warnight orange light and the check engine with the het light was on i just wordered if it would shut off on its own

As long as it automatically shut down, you should be fine.
