Studding consensus?

No. The only thing you need to be aware of is when you run this long of stud to stay out of the center 3.5" of track with studs. There's a vent at the front of the tunnel that projects downward that you would surely shred up if you studded that section of track.

What length max to not have to worry about the 3.5 " in the centre?

This is not your ordinary turbo sled. It comes on way faster than the cat zook twins. I personally think 3 per row is light but I like getting out of the hole probably more than anything. Remember the old rule of thumb, 1 stud per HP.

I was warned about three per row and about pro lite backers. 1700 miles last year and not a single issue with any stud or backer. Went with Studboy rep recommendation and it worked great. Also 129 does transfer great and seems much less stiff than my buddies 137 viper.

I get its not the cat twin but it's still a turbo. Not same as launching a 2stroke at 6000rpm. Don't want to go to crazy studding if it will still hook for the 2-3 times a year I get near ice, rest is just trail use

ya...I had those on my 16 and now the 17...

SJ do the studs make this sled heavy in the corners or is there enough slide and power to still kick the back out and power slide through the corners without killing your arms?

no...not a loose back end...but if you want to hook then you will stick...so yes...if the suspension isn't adjusted right...could feel heavy...but there's so much tunability in our suspensions...its easy to hit the sweet spot... (albeit not with tuner skis)

I am a little leary of studding the outside belt. That's where the tear outs happen. Seen more than 1 ride ruined by that.

I've always studded the outside on my sleds..never lost a one. Gotta ride smart...if you're spinning the track constantly and do that on lousy trail conditions (rocks, stumps etc etc), then yes you'll rip em. But if you use common sense, and only get aggressive on good conditions, you'll be fine!!

I ride in an area where it's most all snow and great conditions most all the time(N. Maine), but once in a while you'll come across a bad area or two, that's when you need to be smart and not spin her up if your studded.

We aren't as lucky around here. Lots of road crossings and hills with rocks. Not as easy on studs and skegs.

I am going to install a 1.5 track on my RTX. Not sure if i can even stud that, is there enough room? the 1.6 stud wouldn't really be enough. I see INS also makes ice screws for deeper tracks. I wonder if the Sidewinder would spit them out?
