Woodys has a template with 114 single studs down the middle. I like down the middle and prefer not to stud on the outside. Does anyone have a pattern that utilizes double backers or is it even feasable? My tunnel protectors are on order along with my graphite slides and longer bolts for the Kimplex idler wheels.

I used the standard V pattern down the middle and it has worked fine. Go with the Shade Tree stainless studs. Excellent studs. Not one bent, not one broken last season and no corrosion. Best stud around. The year before I had Woody's, a third, yes 33% were broken.

Jeff:
You have me very interested in the Shadetree Riders Choice stud with double and single square backers, tall nyloc nuts for both the Apex an RS Venture. They (Shadetree) will cost me about $15 more than if I were to get the exact same thing in the Woody Signature Series line of studs. $15 is not a big deal at all but one would think that Woodys would be better hence their reputation. Now your sugggesting that the Shadtree stud worked better for you v/s Woodys and I value that also.
When you had problems with the Woodys were you installing the tall nuts and are you comparing apples for apples? Shadetree stainless v/s Woodys stainless?[/list]

The Woody's I used were the Gold Digger Traction Master with square alum backers and regular nuts. I'm afraid of the tall nuts because if and when the stud bends or breaks it could be very tough getting that nut off. A better quality Woody's may be fine but I am totally satisfied with the Shade Tree's. I'm using a regular nut with them but when I put them on I used the plastic angled backers, I doubt they had any affect on the durability of the studs. Spend the extra $15.

Your on the right website. Just go over to the left side of that page and click on (Track & Suspension Steering & Traction) then on the right of that page click on (Studs) Then scroll down 3/4 the page and Jeff is talking about the 5/16 Stainless Steel Riders Choice 60 degree Carbide Tip Trail Stud.
