2013 144" track: all studs down the middle
Overall rubber very good condition but there are threads showing, sometimes across track
- 1 tear out of a stud- resulting in a small hole
- at least 4 compromised studs- rubber torn right at the stud
- a few seemed loose
So... should I
1. remove all studs noting there seems to be a downhill trend
2. Tighten all and drive 'er
3. Bite the $$$ bullet and not drive it until I can afford $1100 for a track and $300 for installation?
Many thanks!

pulling the studs out usually lets you make the end of the season or longer with a track. you just cannot ride as agressively as you did with studs.
i have personally taken a 20000 km studded track that was pulling through quite a few and removed all the studs. i used this track on another lower hp sled without issues. it has been on that sled for 7 years and is still going. i do use a torch and burn off all the threads that come out on the track clip holes or stud holes to help the track last longer.
i personally do not run any type of stud at all but i did try a pre studded track in the past (ice ripper). it did make a difference in traction and control but the price was what stopped me on getting another at that time.

This.1. remove all studs noting there seems to be a downhill trend
If you don't have the scratch, time or knowhow to replace a track and want to ride, removing the studs will keep them from tearing out, causing even more damage. I did it to my 2022 LTX last year before a trip to Lac St. Jean as I had a few studs on the edge of pulling out. I DID NOT want to be on a 4-day ride and have a stud pull out and go through my exchanger.

Must be riding style that pulls studs. I've studded 3 Attaks.. put 10 k miles on 2 3k miles on last one. 1 2010 vector wife rode 10k my 2016 vector xtx near 6 k miles now and wifes 2013 vector xtx 7k miles not one pull out. Found just a few over the years on them that were bent just a little.
I always did the studding and used woody's recommended stud and pattern.
I shouldn't of said anything cause now I'll probably pull a stud out some how.

I think riding style AND conditions. I Never used to pull studs out but with the low snow winters of the last few years, I see more and more track damage.
Low snow conditions are hard on everything under the sled.

Thats all I ride in is low snow here in NH. But we ride easy. No burning holes with off/on throttle bursts at bridges, corners etc. If it's mogaled out we go home or turn around to a groomed trail. We only ride during the week never on a saturday and not very often on Sunday's if so super early am. Most of the snow hit's around us but not on us here in the Connecticut river valley.I think riding style AND conditions.
