Hey guys I'm trying to start my research I plan on extending to s 136 and with a new track snd studs.
What do u guys recommend for ultimate traction on trail hardpacked and ice? I was dead set on the roetin Hornets but can't find anything on them now did they shut down?

Molded into the track. They give you the safety on ice or hard pack without all the inherent problems studs can cause. I have one studded but not my main ride.

I have studded 4 136 in tracks. OEM Ripsaw for 3 Attaks and Vector LTX. Use Woody's recomendations of 1.325 Gold Diggers and they're pattern recommendation. Who would know better then Woody's. Also you may need rear cooler protection from the studs depending on which machine you have.
I put 99900 miles on one track before I sold the machine. Got another 6k on the LTX 4 k on new/old Attaks no issues.
I like doing this better. I can't see how the Ice Attak can offer alot of bite in all conditions as Gold Diggers.

I used to run Roetin Hornets, up until this year. In the last two years I have gone through, having to replace at least half of the 171 studs in my track every season, actually closer to 100 each season. I had been using them for the last 5 or so years, and it seemed the quality of them have gone way down hill. I have tried to contact the manufacturer via phone and email with no reply received. I switched to Woodys this year on my '13 Apex XTX with the taller nuts(the nuts could be the secret, but either way I'm done with Roetins), I believe they're 1/2" and I have not had any break after 1300 miles.

Stud boy studs work the best for us.

I've always heard great things about roetin Hornets but since the company was bought out and there are now other people making the Hornets I think the quality has suffered.
What studboys do you run team blue?
And when is the best time of the year to get a deal on studs usually

2166 Power points for Ripsaw 1.25 I buy them at Hay days in September.

Has anyone ever done a good trail stud in the center drilled the outside out and add chisels on the outside only when on ice drags vote would this setup work?

Studs what a pain! studded in the past in the thousands .Ice-Ripper works for me without the worry of fxxking up my exchanger or exhaust.80% i ride in snow covered trails with ice here and there.everyone i ride with except for 1 have studs and im way quicker and faster . . and those guys grip more ??? i dont get it. Ice different story.

To each there own.

X2 I run 2 per. Never had a pull through in tens of thousand of miles. Mack studs here in NH also make what appear to be high quality studs and backers. Go with round backers. Mack studs will be slightly less $$ from my research.

I have macks now they are a strong stud but aren't a one peice stud the tip is added in at the factory and all my tips broke off fast and I had alot of pull through with my circle mack backers I would rather have the stud break and replace then have them pull through macks are an alright trail but do nothing on ice terrain

Good to know. I will stick with woody's.

Woodys signature series hold up well, My brother had them on his yamacharged apex, 6000 miles on the track when he sold it. No pull thrus or broken/bent studs.

I run extreme max studs with the tall nuts on my nitro, 2500 kms so far and they still look perfect. I drive hard too. Pin it over everything. Time will tell how long they last, but so far so good. And they were cheaper. I paid 200 Canadian shipped with the backers from amazon. then was another 60 bucks for the tall nuts.
