bought a pro with leaking basepan. Removed engine, replaced, An d installed gain. Engine idles good, but dies when you hit throttle. Can get it to rev up to 6000 rpm with choke but not under load. Checked compression and its low(155psi) on the mag side compared to 170psi on the other two. Did a leakdown test and all checked out good on all cylinders. Would have thought that this engine would run fine even at 155 on all cylinders. When I choke the engine to rev it up with track off the ground, I can slow it down with the brake very easily. It is smoking blue under load pretty bad when I drive around the yard and thought I could smell antifreeze when it was idling. Took engine out again and replaced head gasket and reset timing but still the same. I have cleaned the carbs as well. I'm not used to thee keihin carbs but figured they have to be the same as the mikuni. Anyway, if you think you can help me, tell me what you think

Sounds like the pilots are plugged. I would remove the carbs and toss the pilots and get new ones unless you can ultrasonic clean them or let the soak over night.

It idles fine. It wouldn't get any fuel to idle if pilots were plugged.

I am sure they are not fully plugged but restricted. I have had them idle and act very similar but still have shitty pilots. So it idles perfect?

Had a rage that used to idle perfectly but run horribly on the top end. Turned out to be a bad fuel pump.
