Summer build

the tailgunner exhaust works awsome on the nytro i had one put on my turbo it is soo soo sweet but once a year you have to change your MUFLER BEARINGS......

NIKOLAI

You could delete the radiator and add the under running board coolers like others have done to the Phazer Mnt. lites...there is a post about it in the Phazer section, deleted the stock radiator and added a shortened set of coolers from a Polaris XC that have the inlet and exit on one side....thick heavy duty coolers and they are having no over heating issue even in 50 degree temps....also keeps the boards warmer and melts the snow load better then the Apex Mnt. version....would love to see some pics and a ride report from up North...cheers!

Well, it has been a while since i have posted so i guess a update is in order. Like Nikolai said, the sleds are working out great and riding conditions are really starting to pick up for us. Like he mentioned, the gunnar tethers are on the way out, his tether stopped working a few rides ago and mine did this past weekend so they will be replaced shortly. I went through a set of stock rails, bent them at the kickup where the timbersled mounts. So, i ordered a set of Ice Age rails and havent looked back. So far very strong and greatly reduce the wheelie effect of the stock rails. Also, i will be going back to the narrow mtn a-arms up front instead of the rtx front end. I have no problem with it other than they tweak a little easy for my liking and i think it was a little more flickeable and sat taller in the front with the mtx front end. Photobucket is down or i would post some pics but you guys will have to wait. As soon as i can i will get a few pics up.

Well heres a few pics....

Sled is running great. The only problem i have had is a dead ecu box. Just lost injector power all of the sudden and sled quite. Paul sent me a box right away and i was on the snow again. 1 Missed weekend all year isnt to bad i guess.

I'm going to Poach Drew and Caleb's thread and post my sled rebuild. As Allot of the Local riders herd last weekend my Sled ended up taking a 200 foot drop into a ravine. We were able to go in the next day with a new real axle and A buddy that was very familiar with the area to break A trail to get my wounded Nytro out of the bad spot it was in. The damage report looks to be

Tunnel
Rear torque arm
Rear axle
Skinz under seat bag tore off and got lost in the pow
Drivers

So here are some pics of the start of the project I figure I have 3 weeks to get it together and have a couple weeks of riding before Yamaha fest

Well I got the tunnel side removed and took it to work today to straighten the kink out of it, Luckily I work at a sheet metal shop! the plan is to use just the rounded part of the tunnel and rebuild the sides/running boards and the top so I have to get that part back straight.

About 5 min on the hydraulic break and I had it back in usable shape.

next I started on the 26 GA template for the new sides/running boards that I will bring to have cut out of 1/8" on the water jet. Should be in my hands by wed then I just have to bend the running boards out and rivet everything together. Thanks to Caleb in advance for helping me get everything perfect.

My new exhaust showed up today  the muffler weighs in at a whapping 2.5 lbs and the pipe/bend is to make offset it down after the header and 45 it out the side like my old 15 pound set up did. All 304 stainless.

My 3rd read axle of the year showed up today, Picked up my 141 rails for my M skid yesterday to accommodate my New 144x2.5 CE that should be here any day, My avid drivers and 4 (hope to not ben any more axles) 8" Avid plastic wheels should be here sat.

Need to order a new rear torque arm to replace the bent one and new Cat running board extrusions since mine are bent already.

Now its a waiting game then bust A$$ for a couple days then wait while its at Powder coat then Bust A$$ again to go RIDE!

I would go with .080 on the sides. 1/8 is overkill and will be biotch to bend. When Drew and I had ours cut we just had Greer bend them for us. If you can, make the tunnel sides under 4 ft. in length so they can cut the sheetmetal going against the grain. Just a personal thing of mine, but I don't like having to bend parts with the grain, won't be as strong. Does this make sense?

There are a few reasons for the 1/8th inch one is I'm going to remove allot of material for the snow cut outs on the running boards. Another is I want it to tie back into my bumper again and I don't want it any thiner than 1/4 so 2 1/8 inch will do the trick there. Bending it will be as easy as pushing my foot down on the control of the hydraulic break at work. Before With 1/4inch on the back and front with about 2 feet missing in the middle I was still a couple pounds lighter than stock. I will gladly give up a couple pounds to have a bomb proof sled.

Knowing Caleb He feels the same way as well. But there is a point when its overkill. I did get my templates off to be cut on the water jet today, I did stick with the 1/8th inch but I did put it on somewhat of a diet and I did cut it into 4 pieces Instead of two to get it under 4' lengths. Im stoked to get them back and start the build. To add to my parts break list I found today that I messed up the tail of my rails and I had broke My anti stab kit before the incident Just by the amount of ware was on it. Damn I Have ben good at breaking stuff this year.

So today I started writing down everything that has even caused me the slightest issue to date on this sled and I am making sure every thing has ben fixed and fixed well. I dont want any more problems and I dont want to have to ride all day wrench all night to ride the next day.

So far on my problem list,

Damage from the crash Is not included as it doesn't matter how tough the sled is 200' will break it.

Muffler problems, Fix-Totally new exhaust system

Broken Axle, Fix-install a 4-wheel axle in place of the two and Avid wheels

Torn off skid plate 3 times, Fix Roest Skid plate

Stabbed track and broken anti stab kit, Add another 1" tip up to the tip of
my rails and install a new anti stab kit just in case

Broken Key tumbler, replace with a tether Cord and push button switch All mounted out of the way of alder bashing areas.

Bent Cat running board extrusions and broken gussets, All new extrusions, gussets and 1/8th inch running boards with better board style snow cut outs

This sled will be bomb proof for part 2 of the season.
